Percy POV
I smile at Rachel as she enters through the room, "Hi Rachel, I wasn't expecting you this early, " my voice falsely cheerful, "I made something for you, it not done yet."
I sang her my little song, the one that was meant for Annabeth, it panged me every second, every word that echoed the room with my voice.
Rachel gave me a small smile. "Thanks, Percy that was really sweet."
My father was watching, he has eyes everywhere, I can't do this anymore. It's almost impossible to love someone when your heart belongs to someone else. Almost. The almost is what pangs the most, the one that shatters my soul.
"Percy? Percy? Are you still there?" Rachel said as she waved her hand around my face.
"Sorry, RED, I zoned out." I apologize. "Let us go for a little walk, it might help me think straight."
"Yeah, that would be a good idea."
She laces her arm into mine as they intertwine, we walk out of the room, side by side.
As we march past my father's office he gives me a smile his eyes peer into mine. Good Percy, you may not love her now you may not ever, but this is for your kingdom, for your pride. It took all of my strength the not snap back at him.
Rachel tugged at my arm a little harder, veering me outside. She takes me through the nature trails that lead to the forest. When we get to the end of the trail she stops me.
"What were you thinking?" She mocks me, "Bringing her to the palace when your father has restricted you from all other girls, what a great idea, a great way to get her exiled."
I look at her in the eyes, her green eyes glowing. "Yeah, what was I thinking."
She rolls her eyes, "That's what I just said, weren't you listening? Where is she now, heh?"
"I'm not sure, but it shouldn't be a problem..."
"She's not at the castle if that's what you wondering, I saw her leave."
My eyes widen, why did she leave without telling me?! She might get caught or might father might find out.
"Sorry Rachel... I got to go. I need to make sure she's ok."
"She'll be fine she's smart and resourceful, she knows what she's doing."
"But. But. I got to go find her." I mutter.
"If you go now it will only cause suspicion to your dad if you leave for town today."
"Why?" I wonder out loud, then it hits me. "Tomorrow is the ball he promised, my ball that he changed the rules too."
"No duh, Sherlock."
"I got to go, my dad is expecting me to plan the ball with mom today." Just to ensure safety I gave her a little kiss on the cheek in case anyone is watching. "I got to go I'm sorry."
I rushed off to the castle leaving Rachel behind on the trail.
I get to the great garden gates as a guard stops me. "Prince Perseus, Queen Sally wants to inform you that you are late to the meeting and that you should get there immediately. "
"Yes, I was just going."
I walk past the guard into my mother's room.
When I open the door she looks up at me, "Percy, you late, tomorrow is you big ball we have to make sure that everything is good."
"Yes, mom, sorry I was late I was out with Rachel and we get carried away." I apologize.
She looks at me in the eyes, sadness spreading. "I know, I know you don't love her, but remember this is for the good of our kingdom." She gave me a smile, "Now let us get started, with the planning."
She gave me a clipboard and a pen on the list was a list of things there should be at the ball, I need to decide what type it should be. There were flowers, cakes, treats, decoration, and the theme my mom let me choose, the others she already planned.
"Mom you know what I want," I give her a playful smile, "Everything blue."
My mom laughs softly as she fills in the blanks; blue orchids, royal blue velvet cake, blue chocolate chips cookies, blue balloons, and under the ocean.
"Is that what you want Percy, everything blue?" She jokes, "Why not red?"
"Because red is an evil color." I pout playfully.
"Mom I need a favor," She looks at me, "could you possibly send some of your favorite dresses to 125 West End Avenue, Room in the attic, it is for someone I really care about."
I write it down for her making she my mom don't forget the address.
"Percy, is it for that girl you like?" Mom asks me.
"Yeah, I invited her to the ball and she doesn't have anything to wear."
"Are you sure you want to do this?" She looks at me seriously in the eyes. "At the ball, your father is announcing your marriage to Rachel, this may break her."
"Please mom, just send it to her" I begged. "I need to see her one more time, to make it up to her."
"She may be arrested for treason, or-"
"Just send it to her."
"Fine Percy," She tells me, "Just remember Percy, are you doing this for her, or for you?"
"For her mom, for her," I reassure her.
"I'll send them to her don't worry."
I give her a hug, promising her that I will make it up to her, and leave the room thinking about moms words.
Am I doing this for her? No, it is for me I want to see her again, before its Rachel's turn forever. I want to see her smile, her eyes shining, her hands in mine. What I'm mostly worried about is that if this last time breaks her.
