I walk with caution, down the dark alleyways hoping that nobody will spot me and, take me back to the castle. I had a picnic basket in one arm, it was full of all kinds of breads, cheeses, and meat. On the top was a red blanket folded neatly. What nobody knew was that placed on the bottom was a carefully creased envelope.

It took me hours to think of an escape route, then when I looked at the clock I was already late. I decided to just walk out of the back door.

"What if she isn't there, what if she waited too long and left?" I muttered to myself.

I reached the end of the alleyway and hit a dead end. I ran my hands along the solid brick wall hitting a stop as a brick slides in and the wall opens up, revealing a spiraling staircase leading down into the ground.

When my father taxed anyone that was entering the beach, he decided that he didn't want to pay the tax himself so he made a secret passageway.

I walk through the moist tunnel that leads to a secret cave on the beach. Keep on walking until a slight creak of the last sunlight of the day peeks through the door. I push open the old rusty door leading to a magnificent crystal cave. I didn't even stop to admire its beauty I just rushed passed. Right now all I care about is meeting Annabeth.

I rush out the cave looking around for someone special. In the very end of the beach, sits a young girl with blonde hair laying against the fence that blocked the beach from trespassers. She was looking out to the sea as her hair is flying behind her. I grin ear to ear; Annabeth, she waited for me.

If you call sitting outside the beach waiting, really I think she couldn't bet in.

I race through the soft sand, as it leaks through my shoes.

"Annabeth what are you doing here?"

"Well seaweed brain apparently you forgot the fact that commoners can't get into the beach for Royals" She rolled her eyes.

"Just climb over" I whispered to her.

Our hands gently brushed against each other through the fence.

"Percy! What if I get caught!" Annabeth yells.

"Shhh, you won't get caught your with me."

She sighs not fighting back, she lifted herself up to the fence and jumped. I caught her in my arms.

"Percy, what was that for?! I can jump off a fence without help." She stated.

"Come on, I was just having some fun!" I shot back.

"I didn't know that royals could have fun!" Annabeth laughed. She smiled light up the darkening evening.

I dragged her hand as I ran to my favorite spot on the beach. I look out to the sea as the waves crash onto the sand. She scoots closer to me and leans her head on my shoulder.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings, I was just joking." I smile and put an arm around her shoulder.

"Its fine"

I set up the picnic, the basket in the middle like a centerpiece.

The food set up around the basket, and the letter still laid inside.

We sat side by side, together. Watching the sunset lower itself in the sea. The colors spread across the sky as it slowly darkens. It looked like throw up, cat throw up if you give it the right mixture of food. It was beautiful and imitating.

It reminded me of Annabeth. She could be the calmest wind while murdering you in your sleep.

I'm not sure why I said that but it's true.

A voice takes me out of my zone, Annabeth's voice. "Percy I need to talk to you."

"Anything for you Annabeth, I will keep it a secret if you want," I replied to her, and I meant it because I knew that I loved her now.

"Promise, you will keep it secret? Pinky promise?"

"Promise" We held out our pinkies and intertwined them shaping it into a heart.

Annabeth relaxed a little and smiled "Well, my stepmother and stepsister, they don't treat me well. When I get home from work, they make me scrub the floors up and down until my hands bleed. When I even have any money they take it from me. I am a member of the household and they treat me like servants. If I tell anyone they will kill my goldfish and they are the only things that love me left in this world."

"I just wanted up get it off my shoulder, I think someone should know"

"Annabeth-"

"Percy its fine, I don't even have goldfish."

"No, Annabeth, your "goldfish" aren't the only things that love you." She looks up at me with a questioning look.

"I love you too."

"Percy? What did you say?" She questions

"Annabeth, I love you Okay!" I practically scream at her. "I love every part of you, from your toes to your eyes, I love-"

Annabeth pulls me into a kiss. She waits for me to pull back, I don't. I pull her in closer, our lips push harder against each other. She lets go and looks at me in the eyes.

"I love you too" She smiled softly.

"Percy, I really do but we can't be together no matter how much we want it." She looks away from me with an ashamed look on her face.

Then the perfect thing happened, it started to rain. Really hard.
