I rush back to my carriage as my dad looks at me with a cross look on his face.

"Percy tell me who is she, who is that girl?" I sigh, I talk to Annabeth for ten seconds and my dad already thinks that we were making out.

"Dad, she is just a girl I met before, she's my friend that's all."

"Percy listen to me, you can't have any more relationships with girls because you're already engaged." I roll my eyes.

"Percy don't look at me like that, it is your duty to your kingdom, not what your heart desires that come first." I look away from him, we already had this talk multiple times and I was tired of it. Whenever I wanted something no matter how small he always tells me that it's about my kingdom, not me.

I look out the window as I see the village pass by, my thoughts drifted from one thing to another but, mostly centering on Annabeth, her perfect blonde hair and, stormy grey eyes. She looks beautiful even if she is in rags. When we got the palace doors the carriage halted to a stop. I see my mom standing on the steps waving towards us inviting us towards her. It hit me, my mom, my mother she would understand, she must know what to do.

I hopped out of the carriage doors and raced up the stairs to her. I tackled her with a big bear hug.

"Mom, I need your help," I told her.

She laughed.

"You're my son, you will always need my help," she chuckled joyfully "What do you need Percy?"

I looked behind me to see my dad walking up the stairs, "Mom can we talk about this in a more private place?" She nodded, understanding.

She led me into the palace, up the swirling staircases. She went to the very end hallway of the first floor and opened the door to her room. She sat down on her tea table and motioned me to talk.

"Mom, it's about Rachel," I said hesitating what I should say next, should I tell the truth or put my duty before myself.

"What is it, Percy?"

"Its just that I don't want her, I don't love her, she is not the one for me." I paused looking for a reaction on her face but her eyes were unreadable.

" I understand, what do you want me to do about it, is there someone special you have in mind?" She said as mischief glinted in her eyes.

"Ya, there is someone special but its just..." How am I spouse to start this, she is a pauper, I am the prince, will my mom see reason in my words? "She is not a princess."

She frowned "Percy, tell me do you love her if you do it doesn't matter what she is what matters is,"

"Who she is inside" We finished together.

"Mom I know its just that Dad, doesn't appreciate it, he doesn't understand."

"Percy, dad wants you to Marry Princess Rachel for the sake of the Kingdom so, the bloodline of the royal family will continue to stay royal."

"But mo-"

"Percy don't but me, let me finish, your dad truly loves you just you don't understand it yet"

"Mom, I don't want to be with her, I want to be with Annabeth the girl I believe that I am in love with."

"Percy, if you really want her than I got an Idea, you can start a ball for all of the young ladies in the kingdom and you can convince dad that you will find the right lady there for you. The catch is that your dad with have to agree to it because he is the king.

~

"Dad trust me it will work" I pleaded with him.

My dad looked up from his documents, to look at me in the eyes, " Look I know that your mom approved of it but, it doesn't seem right to me."

I walk up closer to his table and looked at him closer, hoping he will see the desire I want in this Ball. "Please, I will do anything for this ball, Just let it happen, do it for me."

He looked up at me, I could already see Ideas churning in his head. "Fine Percy, but it has to be under my conditions," He sighed " that is, that it will be fancy, expensive, and nothing a normal pauper can afford, got it?"

I frowned knowing that this was the best I could get out of him. I took out my hand and he shook it. "Deal."
