Annabeth POV
The castle is magnificent the light shines through the stain glass windows as it turns into a fluorescent of colors.
Its been almost a week since Percy has visited my home and invited for me to stay with him in the grand castle. You would think that staying in a castle with nothing to do is quite boring but when you take in the fact that there is a ten layer library in your room and extravagant carvings to study you pass time quickly.
That morning I stood outside on the balcony that spread along the tops of the roof of the lower level of the room I was using.
I never left, mostly the only entrance was the painting that Percy and I entered from when we came into the castle. Percy came and visits me every once in a while.
There was a suit of armor decorating the walls of the room, and a rope of golden string. One afternoon I decided to go for a walk. I changed into the suit of armor it was big and bulky but it fit just fine for me.
I got out to the balcony as I looked down to the lower level of the Castle. There was a balcony right undermine only about ten-fifteen feet. If the golden string broke then it won't be such a bad fall.
I tied one end of the rope the railing of the balcony and flung the other end over. The second end of the rope hovered about two feet over the floor of the balcony below.
I hoisted myself over the railing the heavy metal armor weighing me down. I reached the marble floor of the baloney below without breaking any bones.
I could tell from the carvings on the doors that this room was VIP, the kind of rooms only reserved for royalty. I held my breath as I pushed it open hoping that no one was inside.
I pushed the door open with a slight creak, I peeked through the hole making sure that nobody was inside.
When I was satisfied I pushed the door all the way open. Inside was a nicely made bed in the center of the gigantic room.
I was personally surprised that it wasn't more decorated. The only décor in the room was a picture of a girl with fizzy red hair smiling with a crown. Her mom and dad, their hands on her shoulder without any emotion.
I walk to the door ready to head out just as it swings open with a slam.
I freeze in place not knowing what to do. The same girl with the fizzy red hair came walking through the door.
She looked at me and her eyes narrowed.
"Wow, look! How thoughtful of the castle servants to conveniently but a suit of armor that stands by itself in the middle of the doorway. It's certainly not a random person snooping in my room." She exclaims, maintaining a totally serious voice.
I stay still in place still not moving.
She sighs getting to the point, "Look whoever is in there state your business."
I stay still in place still not moving, not wanting to give away who I was.
"Seriously, tell me who you are or I will wrestle you to the ground, tear off your helmet and attack you with my blue hairbrush"
I close my eyes and take off my helmet, my head feeling the whoosh of cool air, not realizing how hot it actually was under the stuff armor.
Her eyes widen in recognition, I wrinkle my forehead trying to think where she would recognize me.
"You're her." She muttered almost inaudible. She takes a deep breath.
"GET OUT OF HERE! GET OUT OF HERE NOW!"
I quickly put my helmet back on and stumble out of the room. I turn around and see the door slam.
I sigh, so much for first impressions.
I leave the hallway and travel around the castle hoping to find Percy's room. In reality, I should have known better than to travel into an unknown hallway in an unknown literal castle. When you don't know where you are going. Really, I just wanted to look at the structure of the castle.
I hear a voice coming down the hallways it sang out, out of tune, full of struggle but I knew who it was.
His voice echoed out:
Baby, were standing out to the Ocean
Watching all the commotion,
Together, we stand side by side.My warrior,
Fighting though the hardships,
Linking life with emotion,
Waves crashing down one by one.My angel,
laughing at all my dumb jokes,
Eating though my heart and soul,
Filling it through with light and love.My Beauty,
Your golden hair flowing,
Your eyes shining with pleasure,
Your life gleaming with heart and soul.My darling
Your golden hair flowing,
Linking life with emotion,
Filling it through with light and love.Baby, were standing out to the Ocean
Watching all the commotion,
Together, we stand side by side.I chuckle softly as I hear Percy's voice echo through the hallways. That was the worse signing I have ever heard, but it was cute. I go to the door his voice is coming out of and I knock softly.
Percy stops singing, he clears his voice, "Umm... Yes, yea comes in."
I open the door and I see Percy sitting on the ground doing... meditation?
"Oh, it you, I have something for you." He takes a picture frame from the inside of his drawer, it was the picture of Luke, Thalia, and I huddling around each other smiling.
I gasp as I take the whole picture in, "Where did you get that?"
He gives me a slight smile, "When I admitted my love for you."
I laugh at him, "How long did it take you to think of that line?"
"The whole day, " he admits, "I got the picture when I went hot air riding with Rachel and we crashed and found your old tree house."
My eyebrows knit together, old tree house? Thaila, Luke and I never lived in a tree house it was all ditches and hideaways. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah, unless a big wooden box on a tree doesn't count as a tree house anymore."
A knock on the door echoed through the room, Percy looked at my sympathy, "Sorry, Wisegirl you got to go, I have a meeting with someone."
I sigh, taking the picture and leaving through the second door in Percy's room.
As soon as I leave I hear Percy's voice, "Hi Rachel, I wasn't expecting you this early, " His voice falsely cheerful, "I made something for you, it not done yet."
I know it wasn't mine to listen to but I couldn't help myself, I could hear Percy take out something and start strumming cords, it sounded like a guitar. His voice echoed once again through the hallway I was standing in.
Baby, were standing out to the Ocean
Watching all the commotion,
Together, we stand side by side.My warrior,
Fighting though the hardships,
Linking life with...I stopped listening, this may be overreacting but it hurt, it hurt me to hear Percy sing to another. I probably shouldn't have assumed that the song was for me, but I did because he told me he loved me and only me. I left the hallway stone cold, my heart racing.
What's wrong with me? What did I do wrong? It's just a dumb song. I thought to myself.
A little voice in my head gave me comfort.
It isn't you, it is Percy.
It Percy's fault for making you hurt again.
Leave and never look back.
I followed it and I left. I went to the stable found my horse and I left.
With one thought echoing through my mind, I won't love a player.
