I never thought that I would be able to meet the prince a couple months ago, much less fall in love. I'm not sure if life is supposed to work this way. It definitely doesn't work like this for most people.

I always thought that true love was something for the storybooks.

I knew it was different for me when our lips touched it sent a tingle of shiver up my spine. It isn't that feeling that you get when you are scared it was warm and fuzzy.

I looked him in his eyes that reflected the colors of the ocean. His hair like the blackest sky. He nervously ran his hands through his hair not knowing what to say.

Water dripped down his forehead as the rain poured on us.

So much for the first kiss under a rainbow with sunshine flowing through the clouds.

"Annabeth, I don't know what to say." He started.

I laugh softly, "Well you can think of something when we look for somewhere to get out of the storm."

"Let's take as long as we can so I can think of this catchy phrase." He said with a hint of laughter in his voice.

He takes my hand and leads me to the other end of the beach.

"Wait, Percy what are we going to do with the stuff for the picnic?"

"Well, I have a lot more back home so it will be fine"

I look at him in disgust. Ughh, royals always having plenty while the rest of us starve.

He must have seen the expression on my face. "Fine, we'll head back for it. Race you."

He dropped my hand and sprinted towards the basket. I smirk there is no way I will let him beat me.

I sprint after him legs pumping. I was so close he was closer. I leaped and landed on him when he was inches away from the basket. His hands reaching out just missing it. I get off him carefully and grab hold of the handle and leave.

He chuckles with laughter, "Annabeth the cave I was going to take you is that way."

I blushed, "I knew that I was just going home."

"Come on Annabeth I know you will love it."

"Fine."

~

He was right I did love it. The light that creaked through the bits of pouring rain reflected off of the antique crystal structures. Illuminating the whole cave.

A soft wind blows through the opening and I shiver.

Percy looks at me and puts an arm around my neck and pulls me closer. I could feel his steady heartbeat thumping against his chest.

"Percy," I whisper softly, "I think you were going to tell me something."

He blushes and reaches his hand in the soaking basket. And pulls out a soggy piece of paper.

"Here."

I take the soggy paper from him. The ink was soaking through making everything smudgy and faint.

"I can't read anything on here why don't you tell me what you wrote."

"Well," He runs his hands through his hair. He looks so cute when he is nervous.

"Come on don't be afraid I only bite softly."

He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath,

"Dear Annabeth Chase,
I want to tell that you are invited to my birthday ball.
I know what you are thinking; "I don't want to attend a rich royal ball of a spoiled prince"
I invited you to this ball because I care about you, really I requested this ball for you.
I will provide you with the best dresses in the whole kingdom if you can't find your own.
Really the whole point about this ball is to tell you that I care about you.
You already know that I care, (Maybe) what I want to tell you is that I care about you more than a friend. Much more.
LOVE - Percy"

He takes a deep breath when he finishes and sighs. Waiting for my answer.

"Percy, I... I"

"Ya, I know you don't want to go"

"No, really Percy I would love to but." I said nervously "I don't know how to dance. I have never been to a party, much less a ball."

"Well, Miss Annabeth if that is your only issue then I will personally teach you at my home."

"Really, you would do that for me."

"I would do anything to make you stop hating me"

"Percy," I started

"Ya, I know."

"I don't hate you. I hate your kind"

"Well, that doesn't make me feel any better about myself."

I laugh.

Another gust of wind blows through the cave cracks. He pulls me closer, his body heat radiating.

"What are we going to do about the rain," I ask him.

"Well, we found shelter so I guess we would just have to wait it out."

I smile, as the rain pours against the ground, ripples forming in the mud. The waves crashing against the rocky shore. The light in the cave light up with all the colors of the rainbow. The light clashed against the shadows.

Percy wrapped his arms around me filling me with warmth and hope. Even on this cold heartless night, I have never felt warmer. I closed my eyes as the light around me takes up and I flutter into a world of peaceful sleep and happy dreams.

I think that she is starting to trust me. She finds a comfortable place and slowly drifts off to sleep. When she relaxes your face changes into a more happier and peaceful bit of herself.

As the rain dies I look at her peaceful face, the muscles relaxed. I picked her up and whispered.

'' Come on lets take you home ''

She turned around and buried her face deeper in my chest.
