Percy POV

Feet stomp across the granite floors, as everyone panics trying to get to safety as soon as possible. I look at Rachel, panic written all over her face, I know I should help her but all I could think of is that I need to get Annabeth to safety.

Mom looks at me, "Percy, get Rachel to one of the safe room, we need to separate so they don't find us all at once."

I give a nod to mom as she and dad hurry away. I take Rachel by the hand and drags her.

"Percy, where are you taking us?" She asks, her voice cracking from the pressure of the situation.

"Somewhere as safe as possible." We try to sneak through the hallways as the commotion is still in the grand hall.

As soon as we leave out stage someone shrieks from the ground. "The royals are gone, we need to capture them."

Capture. Why capture us? Oh, yeah we're good leverage.

We come to a stop at the end of the stairs, as I look around the corner to make sure that nobody is there waiting for us.

I look around the corner and I see the hallway empty, I turn back to Rachel and motion her to come.

Just as we turn the corner into the hallway a group of people walk in and look at us.

The little one in the back screams with all his might, "THAT'S THE PRINCE, WE NEED TO CAPTURE THEM!"

That was enough to start us running.

As we turn the corner, we knew that the rebel guards were right behind us.

The safe room, it's in this wall. I feel my hands across the building as a small click opens. I quickly open the door and motion, Rachel, inside.

As the door closes behind us she sighs, "Thanks Percy that was close." She whispers.

"Let's hope that doesn't happen again." We both go silent as a tramped of footsteps are in the hallway.

As they pass we both let go of our breath.

I head back towards the wall my hands feeling for the door before I open the lock I look back to Rachel. "Don't worry, there are food and water in the chest in the corner, there are blankets there too. You have enough to survive 1 month on your own, someone will open the door when the attack is over."

"Percy, what are you doing?" She asks as she walks closer.

"Making sure Annabeth gets to safety" I enter the key and slide the door open and close before Rachel could get any closer.

As I step into the hallway I see a group of maids standing there shocked. "Get to the safe rooms," I tell them, moving my arms around widely, indicating at everyone to move.

Some stood there shocked but others gently pushed their shoulders, moving them towards the servants' safe room.

When I finished searching this floor, I went to the next level.

This level was even more hectic. The guests were running in different ways and were cut off by guards trying to get them to the safe room. All the windows were broken, shattered glass scattered across the grounds.

In the crowd was Annabeth, her eyes were wide as she was looking for somewhere safe.

"Annabeth!" I called her name over the chaos of the attack. Another guard was running towards her, I stopped in my tracks as he took out his sword pulling it to her neck.

"Where is he." I could hear him from where I was. "Luke promised that the prince would be with you."

"I don't know, I left him."

"Well, it was your job." He snarled. "You failed it so you have to pay."

"I never accepted it."

"Luke said you did."

That moment Annabeth looked up and saw me. That was her mistake, the moment she had eye contact with me, the guard also noticed.

"The prince, the Prince is here!" He yelled to his fellow rebels.

Annabeth's eyes went even wider as she realized what she had done. "Percy, why are you here?" She yelled at me, tears streaking down her face.

"To make sure you were safe."

As the rebels neared, a sharp pain broke in my leg. My sword has stabbed me in the thigh. My sword. Why haven't I been using it this whole time?!

I unsheathed the sword from the ripped holder. I smile, now I'm going to get some payback.
As the guards neared, I smiled the blade in my hand felt balanced, it was perfect.

I lunged forwards our sword clashing against each other, I swing again barely missing. They slash back at me, I feel my wrist vibrating along with the sword as I block the attack. I turn around just barely blocking a second attack, as another rebel slashes behind.

"This isn't fair," I jock out loud, "Twenty-five VS one."

One of the rebels heard me in the midst of the battle, "This isn't fair you grew up in finery when I grew up in a pit."

"Stop, we're wasting too much time" Someone screams, we all stop and look at them. He held Annabeth in a headlock, there was a cut across his face and fresh blood on Annabeth's hands and his face. Good, you fought him.

"Surrender yourself now, or she dies."

I look at Annabeth in the eyes, serious, calculating.

I can't fight all of them and win, one of us will make it out alive and it will be you.

I drop my sword to the ground as the clatters, the metal hitting the floor.

I raise hands up, as the rebel holding Annabeth smiles.

"Good boy." He one hand with the hilt of his sword and slams it on Annabeth's head rendering her unconscious.

"We don't want any witnesses, knowing where we're going do we?"

His eyes blow gold as he picks up my sword -emotionless- and throws it across the room and it stabs Annabeth right through the stomach.

"Why did you do that?" I scream at him, tackling him to the ground.

He doesn't flinch as I punch him in the face. "You could say I'm a little thirsty, bloodthirsty."

I look into his golden eyes, they seemed timeless.

A guard, one of the rebel guards, one that was attacking me walks up to him and looks at him in the eye, he had a scar across his left eye. "Why did you kill her, you promised me you wouldn't hurt her."

He ignores both of us, "Luke you are on body duty."

The guard that was angry before, just stared at him, his eyes narrowing, and turned away, picking up Annabeth's body and taking her, it, down the stairs.

Someone stabbed me in the back. I fell from the impact, I could feel the blood pouring out of multiple stab wounds. I could see it but I couldn't fell it, I was numb all over, my mind wouldn't think straight. I tried to save Annabeth and I doomed us both.

"We'll get what we want from you Perseus, you'll see."

Then everything went black.
