Chapter 5

I sprint as fast as I can towards the boy that I have spent the past year of my life obsessing over and also one of my best friends. I fling my arms around his neck and wrap my legs around his waist whilst he struggles to regain his balance.

"Nash, what are you doing here?"

"Taylor called, said he wanted to give you the best day of your life" he explains "So here I am" he laughs

"I'm so glad you're hear. I've missed you so much!" I say as he puts my down onto the ground

"You're going to be even happier when you see who I brought with me" My eyes light up as I see Cameron and Hayes strolling across the sand towards me. I pull them both into a tight hug.

"This day is great already" I look at my watch "And it's only 11 o'clock"

"Hey Sky" Hayes beams

"Hey Haaaassss" I say in Nash's voice

"Skylar" Cameron nods his head to me. He doesn't seem himself.

"Cameron" I say copying his action just as a pair of hands cover my eyes. I instantly spin to find Jack Gilinsky beaming at me

"Jack" I say speechless "What are you doing here?"

"Taylor called" He explains and I pull him into a hug. I peer over his shoulder to see Jack Johnson smiling at me. I release from the hug and hug Jack Johnson.

"JJ, I've missed you"

"I've missed you too bae" he says into my ear

"Can this day get any better?" I say

"Depends what you count as better" I hear from behind me. I instantly spin to see my best friend looking at me, her long blonde hair blowing in the wind

"Amy" I say shocked. I stand stunned as she pulls me into a hug

"Let me guess"

"Taylor called" he say in usion. I turn to look at Taylor.

"Why?" I ask him

"It's your birthday this week" Taylor explains "Don't tell me you forgot" I shake my head disagreeing

"Taylor, you truly are amazing"

"I know, I know"

We sit on the sand for about 10 minutes until Carter and Aaron turn up. I greet them in the same way as I did with the rest of the boys. We do the usual things that teenagers would do at the beach: get ice cream, sunbathe, play in the sea and build sandcastles. Shawn turns up a bit later: around 3pm. Things are a little awkward between him and Amy but they still seem to be friends. maybe even more than friends, they seem a little flirty. I'm happy for them. Really I am. At least I think I am.

I sit on the golden sand and watch everyone as they play in the water. The sun is starting to set. It's 6pm after all. I don't know where the time went but it was fun wherever it went. It feels like nothing has changed from that first night that we met all of the boys. It was the best day of my life. But so much has changed.

Jack and Jack are almost graduating. Shawn is going on tour with Austin Mahone soon. Cam and Nash are moving in together this summer. Carter is still annoying him mum. Aaron is still the cutie he's always been. Hayes is almost 14. Cameron is almost 20- how crazy is that? The most immature boy I know is almost 20.

I've moved to a different state. Amy's got a modelling contract. I cant say I'm surprised, because I'm not. Like I've said since day 1- she is beautiful. She's like a blonde Vanessa Hudgens. The only reason I know all of this is from Twitter. I still have notifications turned on for all of the boys.

All but Matt. Matt. He's the only one not here. Did Taylor even ask him to come? Did he just not want to come? Do I want him to be here?

These questions swirl around my head until someone sits beside me. I do a quick headcount of the bodies splashing around in the sea. It's not one of them. I don't look to see who it is. I don't have to. I already know.
