Chapter 56

"Surprise? What?" I ask confused.

"We thought we'd throw you a very late surprise birthday party" Nash explains.

"What- wait Nash?"

"Surprise beautiful" he winks pulling me into a hug.

"I missed you"

"I was gone for like a day" he chuckles

"Shut up mr smarty pants"

"I missed you too"

"I'm so sorry"

"For what?" He says holding me at arms length.

"Going all psycho bitch on you"

"I deserved it- I am really sorry for that Sky"

"It's okay"

"Friends?"

"Nope" I say shaking my head. He looks kinda heartbroken. "We can't be friends because you're my best friend"

"I thought Taylor was?"

"Can't a girl have more than one?"

"I'll give you that! Now let's get this party started!" Nash cheers as music begins to blast through the house.

After about an hour and a half of dancing, singing at the top of my voice, making out with Matt and just general having fun, Taylor turns the music down.

"Can I have everyone's attention please?" He shouts of the noise of people talking. After all pretty much everyone in my year is here minus Capricorn and her 'clique'. "I just wanted to say, happy belated birthday to the best girl in the whole fucking world" Taylor never could go a sentence without swearing. "Skylar, you're amazing and you already know what I think about you. But I wanted to let everyone here know"

"Taylor stop" I say getting up from Matt's lap where I am currently sat.

"No Sky they deserve to know"

"Are you drunk?"

"Nope" he says wafting me away. "Skylar is one of the most beautiful, lovely, kind, badass girls you'll ever meet."

"True!" Matt cheers.

"Skylar Potter is the funniest, most sarcastic person I have ever met in my life. You honestly make my world a much better place and I can't believe that it's only been like 3 months and a few weeks since we first met in person but I'm so glad we finally did"

"It's a good job me and Amy weren't late to school that day" I mutter.

"So yeah that's all I wanted to say! Let's get this party back on track" Taylor cheers.

"Good speech right?" Jake says appearing next to me.

"Yeah, mind blowing" I laugh.

"Shut up I helped him with that"

"Since when were you friends with them?" I ask turning to them "Please elaborate, I'm really confused"

"Come with me, I can't even hear myself think right now" he says sliding his hand into mine. He pulls me out the front door and down the steps, towards his car. He sits on the hood of his vehicle.

"Now what?" I say climbing on next to him.

"Hi, I'm Jake Maloley. I think you're really beautiful and I'd love to get to know you"

"What?"

"What's what I wanted to say to you the day I met you"

"Hi Jake, I'm Skylar Potter" I say holding out my hand, he takes it and kisses the top of it

"Hi" he smiles "I'm known as the bad boy of the school but I want you to know that I'm actually not as bad as I may seem"

"Well Jake, I'm the new girl in town and I'm pretty bad ass"

"I noticed" he laughs "You walked in here and were immediately swarmed with adoring fans- either you're known for your bad ass reputation or you live with 11 famous teenage boys" he smirks

"I'd go with the first one" I wink. "See I knew you could be nice"

"Yeah, I just let everything get on top of me"

"Quite literally" I laugh making him laugh. "You never did tell me how you met these guys"

"Well I'm Skate's cousin right?"

"Right"

"And he's friends with Jack and Jack. I went to Omaha every christmas when I was little and every summer to date. I don't have any of my own friends there so I hang out with all Nate's friends"

"What so Gilinsky, Johnson, Sammy, Mike and the rest of them?"

"Yeah, we're pretty close. And then when Jack and Nash screwed up, they wanted to make it up to you so they called me. They wanted to get you out of the house for a few hours so they asked for me"

"And you jumped at the chance" I laugh "But how did they get me out of the house in the first place?"

"You know all those things you thought Mia did?" He smirks.

"What are you going to tell me?"

"That was Taylor"
