Chapter 47

I wake up to be dazzled by sunlight. Where am I? It takes me a minute to adjust to my surroundings. I check the time on my phone. 7:30am and 2% battery. Oh shit, I'm late. Why did no one wake me?

I scramble into my burgandy skater skirt, black tights and black t-shirt, picking up my boots and a thick cardigan. I brush my teeth and comb my hair out roughly- I must have slept on it weirdly because now it's wavy. I throw my books into my bag and race downstairs. All of the boys are fast asleep in my living room so I tiptoe around them into the kitchen- I grab some fruit and shove it into my bag too. I grab Taylor's keys and borrow his car to drive myself to school.

"Hey Sky!" I hear Capricorn call from behind me. I spin on my heels to see her walking towards me, follwed by a small crowd of girls. I look at the crowd, confused as Capricorn waves the crowd away. As she does so, the girls disperse- walking all in different directions.

"We'll save a seat for you in the cafeteria!" One of them calls back to her.

"Yeah sure! Thanks" She calls. She sounds so different. The edgy I-don't-care-what-people-think-of-me attitude has disappeared, replaced by the I'm-little-miss-popular-now attitude.

"Hey" I say unenthusiastically.

"Do you wanna go to lunch?" She says pushing me towards the cafeteria.

When we reach the doors, I stop and look around.

"Cap!" I see the same girl from a few minutes ago wave over to Capricorn.

"Hang on one minute" She calls back. "Can you believe Shawn is leaving to go home today?" She looks upset "I only got to meet him yesterday"

"Shawn's leaving?"

"Yeah, said he had no where to stay any more "I thought he was staying with you?"

"He was" I say still confused.

"Well, I'll see him when I see him. I kind of only dated him for the popularity here. I mean, you just got here and you're already the most popular girl in school." She says "I have to go, bye"

What does she mean Shawn's leaving? He has no where to stay anymore? Oh shit, I told him to leave, told them all to leave. I was so mad last night. I made such a stupid mistake. I pull out my phone to call Shawn, to call of them- to get them to stop, to come back. Dead. How am I going to stop them now?

I sit down at a nearby empty lunch table and pull out my ringbinder for my next lesson. Its one of the ones the boys made for me. I scan over it- pictures of Taylor and I at the beach. Pictures of Jack asleep on my shoulder, pictures of Nash. Hayes and I laughing about something that we probably didn't know what we were laughing at at the time. Pictures of Matt and I at Magcon.

'If you show anyone this picture I will cry'~ Carter. It's written next to a picture of Carter and I on one of the rollercosters at Six Flags- he looks like he's about to throw up. (He waited until the ride had finished to do that)
