So the pretty girl can't be smart
And neither can the blonde girl
The girl with glasses has to be intelligent
And the quiet student is automatically antisocial
I didn't realize everyone had to fit your stereotypes
I didn't know that the world was catered to what makes you comfortable
I forgot that the tough sporty guy can't like dudes
And the girl who wears form fitting clothes has to be a slut
So tell me how well I fit your stereotype?
Am I ugly and quiet enough to be a nerd
Am I smart enough to fit the glasses and braces idea?
Tell me how long your stereotype lasts in the real world
Am I the butch type that you expect
Am I the one you think of
When you picture a lesbian?
I'm sorry do I not fit the stereotype?
Does it make you nervous that I'm not that picture image?
Is my hair too long?
Should I not wear dresses?
Our entire world is built on stereotypes
Destroy the idea that a guy who's dramatic is a fag
Or that the pimply quiet dude can't get the popular girl
Destroy the idea that popularity is based on looks
That every single popular girl is pretty and stupid
And that every quiet, mousy girl is a genius
Stereotypes can ruin us
We feel so much pressure to fit the mold
We think we need to act as everyone tells us we should
Screw that- we are individuals, none of us are born to be a stereotype
Act like it.
