I stared up from my sandwich to meet the beautiful eyes of Nathan Prescott. He gave me a small smile and a short wave, and I returned the gesture. I watched as he sat with Victoria and the other vortex club members. I continued to stare at Nathan when a hand went in front of my eyes.

"Hellloooo? [Your name], are you in there?"

Oh, Right. I was supposed to be hanging out with Kelly and her friends. "You spaced out. Are you okay?"

"Yeah, Yeah. I'm just thinking." I responded and Kelly went back to chatting with her friends. Kelly was a really good friend of mine. She came to the school a few weeks ago and since she's incredibly beautiful and a talented student, it wasn't surprising when everyone started to like her. I mean, she's no Rachel Amber but, you get the picture.

And Nathan, oh Nathan. He and I were really good friends and I had started to develop feelings for him. However, the vortex club hadn't taken a liking towards me and so whenever I tried to hang out with Nathan and his friends, it was very awkward. Victoria especially didn't like me, but then again, did she really like anyone?

Kelly and I had grown a connection, and Nathan and I started to rarely hang out anymore. He was always with Victoria so obviously I couldn't hang out with them.

We just started to drift apart.

Kelly looked back at me staring at Nathan again. She smiled at me and giggled. "You're so adorable. Go talk to him!" She nudged me a little and I fake pouted.

I looked down at my sandwich again and started to chew. "Sorry? I couldn't hear you." I said through a full mouth knowing this would gross her out. She scrunched her nose.

"Look, he's looking right at you! Go talk to him! If you don't I will for you!" She gave me a cute smile. "If you ever get to a point where you don't know what to say, look at me or text me, and I'll help."

I looked back down at my lap. "I dunno, I'm not good at the whole social game.." I folded my hands.

"Hey," she took her hand gently in mine, "you've got this. Just take deep breaths. It's easier when you're relaxed."

"Fine!" I stood up, "I'll go!" Kelly smiled and gave me a thumbs up. I started walking towards Nathan who was sitting on the grass. As he noticed me walking, he stood up and started walking towards me.

Once we both got to each other, he slipped something in my pocket and whispered in my ear, "we'll talk later."

Confused, I give a nod and walk back to my table. As I sit down, I decided that unveiling whatever Nathan gave me wasn't the best idea. "So," Kelly asked, "What did he say?"

I give her a fake sad expression. "He-He said.. that he never wants to speak to me again.." I lied. Kelly had a shocked expression and she put her hands on her temples.

"Oh no.. this is all my fault! I'm so so sorry, I shouldn't have forced you to go! Oh my gosh.. I don't even know what to say.." She spoke with genuine guilt.

"Don't worry, it's okay. It's not your fault. He just wasn't interested in me, that's all." I look at the time on my phone. "Oh no, I've got to be at my philosophy class! See you guys later." I patted Kelly on the shoulder and ran into the school.

I never had a philosophy class, I just wanted to be in a private area. I walk into the girls bathroom, into a stall and lock the door.

I check my pocket and there is a folded up piece of paper. I open the paper and in it reads,

Hey. Meet me in my room at 7:00 pm. Nathan.

The handwriting is very hard to read, but I managed it. On the bottom of the note is a key taped to the paper. I assumed it was a room key. I fold it up once again and head out of the bathroom.
