A/N: Hope you're enjoying Enigma and this is close to coming to an end! What story should I make next?? I'm such a geek and there's a lot I wanna do but not sure what... Hmm... Thinking about doing Darkiplier... also I'll most likely be writing smut later in a future chapter if you don't read it then don't worry you won't be missing any plot to the story. Back to Mira!

Thorin... What has happened to you? I bite my lip nervously and stand next to Bilbo, watching the Dwarves work in the distance. Chunks of stone are being piled in order to create some kind of fortress. The only way in or out, is to basically climb the darn thing. Once again Bilbo and I are the ones resting while the Dwarves are working. I tried picking up one block and Thorin immediately told me to put it down. He's never been that protective before. Then again... Balin did mention something about protecting the 'things' that are his. So does that mean he only sees me as some kind of object now?

The stress growing on the company is obvious but not to the one barking the orders. First the search for the Arkenstone and now this? They haven't even had a good nights rest or even a bite to eat. They've been at this all night but the stubbornness and loyalty of Dwarves amazes me. I sigh in relief when the last stone is placed and they slowly move away from the wall. Dwalin moves past with a sharp nod and grabs his axe with a grunt. I examine his figure closely, noticing the strain in his muscles and tiredness in his eyes. Even the fierce warrior is exhausted. The rest of the company go to retrieve their weapons as well although, it doesn't seem like Thorin will let them go just yet. He wears an even darkened expression as he gazes upon their finished work and suddenly races to the top.

I blink in surprise at his actions but quickly chase after him, afraid of what he sensed. All this worrying has distracted me from noticing anything from the outside. Thorin peers my way as I'm just about to reach the top and he instantly grabs my hand. The contact gives me goosebumps and for a second, it seems as though everything's fine. He pulls me close and the dark glint in his eyes, tells me he's not being sweet. He's being possessive. I frown and follow his line of sight, to see familiar gold plated armor. My heart quickens at the amount of Elves before us, carrying spears and bows. Thranduil is nowhere to be seen but the galloping of a horse, causes the situation to intensify. The rest of the Dwarves join our side, looking off in curiosity with their weapons in hand. I squint and recognize the bowman instantly. Bard approaches us, stopping his steed and says his greetings to Thorin. I have to say, being this close to Thorin while he's in this state, is frightening.

He pulls me closer, gripping my waist tighter until it becomes painful. I do not make a sound out of fear that he might become even more displeased. He won't hurt me. I say to myself and take in deep breaths, trying to focus on the conversation and not the dark aura coming off him.

"Why does the King under the Mountain fence himself in like a robber in his hold?" Bard questions, not afraid to speak the truth and allowing everyone to hear.

"Perhaps it is because I am expecting to be robbed." Thorin roars and the heat radiating off his body grows. I touch his larger hand and stroke his fingers softly in attempts to help calm him. He lets out a shaky breath and loosens his grip but still holds on tightly.

"My lord, we have not come to rob you but to seek fair settlement." Bard looks away from Thorin and we locks eyes. "Will you not speak with me?" To anyone else, it just looks like a simple glance but that's not the case. Knowing Bard, he wants to speak to me privately about something.

Thorin nods, assuming he's the one needed but I stay quiet. He moves down the small path and goes for one of the bird cages first. I stop in order to watch as he places a small piece of parchment into the ravens talons. What's he doing now? He releases the animal and pushes past, bumping into me slightly. I stare at him in question but ignore it for now. Maybe I'm just overthinking things. Before I'm able to join Thorin, he turns my way and shakes his head with a serious expression. I stop and frown, pondering over his actions towards me. Bilbo approaches my side and gives a small grin but it doesn't calm my nerves. Thorin is going back to keeping secrets and now it doesn't look like I have a say in what's happening.
