Leah woke up to the sound of a violin. There was always some kind if music in the house. The melody was sad and slow at first but sped up quickly, becoming more action filled.
She sat up and walked downstairs. Vanz was standing up in front of the couch with Noctis and Gabriel's mouths hanging open as her fingers moved from string to string with expert ease. Leah walked into the piano room on the other side of the living room and grabbed the cello from the corner, sitting on the arm of the couch she held the giant instrument and ran the bow over the strings, the deep groan mingled with the high pitch violin and caused their mouths to hang open further.
The sound softened and grew as they played a along with each other, knowing where they were in the memorized music with each note and finger over strings until they stopped abruptly, Vanz fingers literally bleeding at the tips and Leah's numb and sore.
"Wow." Noctis said.
"That was brilliant. How did you keep up with each other from memory?" Gabriel asked, truly intrigued.
"We've been playing that song together since we were twelve. It wasn't that hard." Vanz said as a matter-of-factly.
"So," Noctis started, "how many instruments do you guys play?"
The girls looked at each other and raised their eyebrows, "we both play the same instruments except Leah doesn't play acoustic guitar, so, about, at the very least, seven. I know we play more than that but I can't name them all at the moment." Vanz said.
"That's amazing. You taught yourselves?" Gabriel asked.
"Yeah, except for Leah, her mom taught her piano."
Leah smiled sadly, "Yeah."
They all sat in silence for several moments.
"Leah, do you still want to go to the rink to practice?" Noctis finally asked.
"Yeah, let me grab my stuff and we can go."
Leah raced upstairs and grabbed her bag and skates and ran back down.
"Okay, we can go now."
"H-hey leah, do you mind if I come watch?" Gabriel asked.
"No problem. Vanz, you can come too and show him around."
A mischievous gleam passed through her eyes, "Cool." she said calmly.
