Leah got up off the couch and walked towards the stairs. Noctis grabbed her arm just enough to stop her.
"Hey leah, I'm sorry."
"Whatever, just leave me alone."
She continued up the stairs and left Vanz alone with Noctis.
"Dude, what the flying fuck is your problem?" Vanz asked.
"I don't know. I guess how tired I was mixed with different shot fucked my mind and caused all of this."
"Well you're gonna have to work pretty hard to get back on her good side."
Vanz turned around and walked into Gabriel's room, a habit she had made over the past few weeks.
-----
"So," Vanz said as she closed the door, "I want to know something."
Gabriel looked up from his book and raised an eyebrow, "Okay."
"What is the deal with Noctis sand his stepfather?"
"Why do you want to know?"
"I may or may not have gone through his texts at one point and saw where they had gone back and forth."
"Well, I think you should know what happened to his real dad first."
Vanz sat down on the bed next to him, "tell me what you know."
"Well, of course his parents split up. When they went into a custody battle Noctis's mom won out. Several months later though, his father had the chance to take him back, but he didn't. Then, his mom married his stepdad-who is a wanker.he always abused Noctis because of the way he dressed. It wasn't even physical, just nagging and teasing him. Mental really. So, he really hates them. His parents both made fun of him for ice-skating. Calling him gay and a bunch of other things that I'm not going to mention. So, he moved out and became a botch. Clubs, drinking, prostitutes, and the such. It was awful."
"So, Noctis wasn't hurt when his dad had to give him to his mom after the custody battle. He was hurt when his father had the chance to take him back...but didn't."
"He really isn't either of the people you know him as. He isn't violent or suicidal, or really even happy, just..."
"Hurt." Vanz felt sort of bad for being so callous towards Noctis. He only acted the way he did because that was all he had ever really known.
"Hey, don't feel bad, okay? he needs a bit of tough love."
"You two act more like best friends than brothers."
"And you and Leah act more like sisters than best friends."
"Hey, what are best friends for?"
