The day after they arrived back home, Leah and Noctis went to practice.
"Noctis don't push it." Leah said, standing at the side of the arena.
"I'm not, I'm not, just watch." He said.
"What are you doing?"
"Well, it doesn't have a name. It was just something I used to do in spare time."
"When you break something I'm going to laugh."
Noctis exited the arena and backed up to the wall. He took the best running start he could and hopped over the wall, landing, then crippling with an agonized groan.
"What the hell were you thinking?" Leah raced over to him.
The language he was using was very colorful French (if you get it good for you).
"I wasn't." he managed.
"Okay, well what's broken?" she was rushed when speaking.
"My leg."
"Lean back and try to stretch it out. It is going to hurt but I need to be able to look at it."
Noctis reluctantly stretched out his leg and almost screamed from the white-hot pain running from his knee to his ankle.
"How did you manage that?"
There was blood soaking the side of his pant leg and it was obvious that his leg was defiantly broken. She unlaced his skate and directed him to take off the other one. Leah took out her phone and called Vanz, "hello?" the other girl asked.
"Get your ass down here I'm not calling an ambulance." Leah said.
"What happened?"
"I'll explain when you get here."
They hung up and a few minutes later Leah heard an ambulance siren, "I swear I hope Vanz didn't call somebody."
Vanz ran through the doors in her scrubs and looked over the wall of the arena, "okay, what happened?"
"I forgot that you two were paramedics." Noctis said through clenched teeth.
"Noctis managed to break his leg." Leah said.
Vanz walked out on the ice and her and Leah helped Noctis up and out into the back of the ambulance.
"Sorry, patients in the back." Vanz said, closing the doors and climbing into the driver's seat next to Leah.
"Do you wanna do it this time?"
"Hell yeah!" Leah said, pressing the sirens.
"See ya' fuckers!" Vanz said as she raced past other cars on the highway.
Leah reached underneath her chair and pulled out the spare pair of teal scrubs. She quickly changed and pulled her hair back into a ponytail.
Within minutes they were at the hospital. They jumped out and pulled Noctis out on a stretcher. He looked between the two as Leah looked closer at his leg and Vanz talked to a doctor. Leah sighed and looked at Vanz, "Well great, John, can you do a surgery right now? Or are you on break?"
"I can why?" the doctor said.
"This break barely missed the artery, it would be dangerous to try and push it back into place like it is."
"Okay, take him to room 221, I'll be there in a few minutes."
The radio on Vanz shoulder ran to static and a voice blared through the noise, "there is an accident on highway 24 west near the airport, Vanz, can you and Leah get it?"
