Hiding From the Dead: Chapter IX
I got out after about an hour, put my clothe and started drying my hair with the towel. I walked to Liam's room. Jayden and him were sitting on the bed laughing, but when they saw me, they stopped. I frowned in curiosity.
"What's so funny?" I asked. Jayden tried to hide a laugh.
"Nothing." He said and I looked at Liam, trying to find an answer. Jayden looked at him smiling.
"I'm going to take a shower." He said and looked at Jayden. He shushed at him and Jayden nodded, smiling. He stood up and looked at me. When he walked beside me, he smiled and winked. I was even more confused. I sat next to Jayden, still with my towel, drying my hair.
"What was that about?" I asked him and he smiled, but then, he got serious.
"Do you like Liam?" He asked, avoiding my question. I thought about my answer, but decided to come clean.
"Yeah, I do like Liam, why?"
"Then why aren't you two together?" He avoided my question again. This time, I thought a little more about my answer.
"Because of you." He frowned in curiosity.
"You are not together because of me? But I want you to be together. I like Liam." I can't believe my little brother wouldn't mind me being with Liam. And I want to. Ahh! No! Stupid feelings are taking over me! But I can't!
"I'll see what Liam thinks." I do know what he thinks.
"Liam likes you. He told me. Bree, I want you to be happy. You deserve it for being the best sister there ever is." I felt a knot forming in my throat. I just hugged him, not being able to say anything.
"I love you, buddy." Was all I could say with my voice breaking.
"I love you too." He said. I cleaned my tears when I saw Nina standing on the door.
"Hey, what's up?" I asked her, trying not to make it seem like I was crying.
"Hey. Ricky and I are going to go upstairs now. Can you take care of Vale?" She asked me and I nodded, smiling.
"Sure." Vale walked in the room and Jayden smiled.
"Hi, baby." He said. Nina and I both looked at him. Baby?
"What was that?" I asked Jayden. He smiled at me.
"Vale and I are boyfriend and girlfriend. We are going to get married when we are older." I just raised my eyebrows, not knowing what to say.
"Yeah. Like mommy and daddy are." Vale said and I looked at Nina. She walked into the room.
"Honey, aren't you are little too young to be thinking about that?" Nina asked Vale and she shrugged.
"But when you love someone, you have to be with them. You and daddy have always loved each other and you are married now. Me and Jayden can get married when we are older. But right now, we love each other and we want to be together." Wow. Jayden got out of bed and looked at Nina.
"I know we are little, Nina, but I love Vale and I want to be with her. I promise you I will always protect her, like Ricky protects you, and Liam protects Bree." I don't know when my little brother started talking like a grown up, but I was surprised. 4-year-olds are talking about marriage, I'm 17 and never even had a serious relationship.
"Babe, come on up!" We heard Ricky's voice coming from the third floor. Nina looked at Vale.
"We'll talk about this later, young lady." She said and then looked at Jayden. "And you be careful young man." She told Jayden and he nodded.
