Hiding From the Dead: Chapter XII

Bree's P.O.V:

It had past about two hours since the boys were gone. I knew it wasn't going to be quick, but I was still worried. I had spent my entire time in the kitchen table playing cards with Nina. The kids were playing like doggies, crawling around the floor, barking and panting with their tongues out.

Jayden got close to me and put his hands on my thighs. He panted with his tongue out and I chuckled. I put my hand on his hair and patted his head.

"Who's a good doggie?" I asked, jokingly and he barked. I chuckled again. I never want him to grow up. He went back to Vale and I sighed, smiling.

"You never want them to grow up." She said, smiling, looking at Vale. I smiled as she said exactly what was on my head.

"Yeah, that's what I was thinking." I looked at the kids playing and then back at Nina.

"Who would have thought that everything we had is now lost. You have no idea how many things I had of Vale when she was a baby and now all of that is gone." She seemed sad. "The only thing I was able to bring were my two favorite pictures of us and her when she was one."

She smiled to herself and took her backpack, which was on her feet, under the table. She took out two pictures from the front pocket and handed them to me. I smiled.

"This one is of us on Vale's first birthday

"This one is of us on Vale's first birthday."

The first picture was a cute family picture. Ricky and Nina were both wearing white shirts that said 'Mommy and Daddy of the birthday girl' in pink. Vale was wearing a pink tutu and a white shirt. There was a beautiful two-layer cake with Minnie Mouse in gold on the bottom and the name Valentina on the top one.

I smiled at Vale's big brown eyes looking at the camera. "And in this one, she was one year and four months. She was so big for her age." Nina smiled to herself again and I smiled at the picture. Baby Vale was smiling at the camera with sparkly brown eyes. She had a big bow on her head, and just a little bit of hair. That's surprising considering now her hair is down to her waist. Her shirt said 'I can change the world'. I chuckled.

"I'm sure she changed both your worlds." I say and Nina chuckled, looking at Vale.

"She sure did." We were interrupted by a knock on the door.

"Nina, Bree, it's us, open the door!" We heard Liam's voice. We ran to the door and when Nina was about to open it, I stopped her. Liam just talked. I pulled her as I walked a few steps back.

"There's something wrong." I whispered. She looked at me in confusion. "Liam is still childish, he would have said the Aloho-thingy he said he would say."

"Maybe they changed their minds." She whispered back at me. I shook my head.

"No... I don't think so." I looked back at the door. "Who is it?!" I screamed.
