I woke up with my head pounding like crazy. I sniffed rubbing alcohol everywhere and my vision was blurry. My head was laying on somewhere soft and comforting, but my body was somewhere hard. I moved my head a little and blinked trying to clear my vision.
"Guys, she's waking up!" I heard a voice I'd recognize anywhere. I looked towards where I'd heard Liam and still with my cloudy vision, I saw his baby face smiling at me. "Hey." He said and I tried smiling. I looked around, and every movement made my head feel dizzy. We were in the pick-up's trunk and I was laying on his lap. I started sitting up, but then felt Liam's hand on my chest. "Hey, hey, hey, Bree, you are not ready yet." He said quickly and I laid back down.
My head started pounding even harder and I touched it with both my hands. Tears fell down as I grabbed my head, trying to ease the pain.
"Li-Liam m-my head hurts." I said stammering and he shushed, softly.
"I know, you hit your head real hard, it'll pass, I promise." He started pulling me up to his chest like a baby and placed a soft kiss on my forehead. I snuggled on his chest and sobbed. I felt the truck move and then heard a loud thud next to me. My head pounded at the noise and I whined. A hand touched my back.
"Bree." I heard Ricky's voice, so I slowly looked back. He had a water bottle and some pills on his hands. "Take this... for the headache." I started sitting up, slowly, still on Liam's arms.
After drinking the pills and water, I looked around. We were parked on the side of the road, under some trees, hiding from the sun. Nina was sitting on the other corner of the trunk with Jayden and Vale on her lap, both of them sleeping. Steel walked next to me so I pet his head. Everyone was quiet and after a couple of minutes, I was starting to feel better. My vision wasn't as cloudy as before and my head still hurt, but it wasn't pounding. I looked at Liam.
"Liam... what happened?" I asked and he brushed my hair with his fingers.
"The same guys that attacked me and Ricky... well apparently, they weren't alone. And well, stupid of us, we left their bodies outside, and they found us. While we were in the shower, I don't think if you remember, one of then broke the door. He was about to shoot you, so I pushed you, you fell, hit your head and I got this." He pulled aside his shirt and showed me a bullet wound that was stitched up. "Nina helped stitching it up but it still hurts like a bitch." He chuckled. I smiled.
"Did you kill him?" I asked. I hated the idea of him killing a human, but if there was no other choice, I wasn't going to say anything.
"I did." Ricky said. "And there are some images I want to get out of my head, and trust me, they are not yours." He told me. Liam chuckled and I looked at him, curious. What does he mean? My head wasn't clear yet, so I didn't understand. Liam smirked.
"Oh, please, my brother, don't say that, you are just jealous of me." Liam raised his hands to the sides and shrugged. As soon as he said that, I realized what they were talking about.
"Have you ever heard that popular myth that the shoe size indicates the size of our friends? Well, my friend, I'm size 12." Ricky wiggled his eyebrows, smirking. I looked at them both.
"Really guys? We almost got killed back there and now you are talking about your tiny friends?" I signed tiny with my fingers when I said the word and Liam looked at me.
"Wow, baby, you must have hit your head really hard, cause it seems like you don't remember what you saw 5 minutes before that." He smirked at me and wiggled his eyebrows.
"Okay. Nope." Ricky said, raising his hands in surrender mode. "I'm out of this conversation." He jumped from the trunk to the floor and Liam and I chuckled, but before leaving he looked at us. "Remember... size 12." He smirked and left to the front of the car. Liam and I chuckled again. I shook my head, smiling. Boys will always be boys no matter how old they are. But hey! At least they are starting to get along.
