Hiding From the Dead: Chapter XIV

Jayden's P.O.V:

I didn't know what was going on. Bree told us to hide. That everything was going to be okay. But I didn't believe it.

After those two men grabbed me and Vale, everything was a blur. I remember screaming and crying. Hearing Bree's voice, crying as well, and Nina's, and Ricky's. He said some bad words. I've never seen him so mad.

After those two men carried us to the woods, they threw us in the back of the car. I was still screaming and crying, trying to get out of his hands to go back to Bree, but it was impossible.

A man sat next to us in the back. He seemed like a bad man. The man that threatened everyone was driving and there was another guy, sitting in passenger. Vale held my hand.

"Jayden..." I heard her voice, sobbing, so I hugged her. I was scared those bad men would hurt us. "Jayden..." I heard her again. I remembered how Bree would always tell me it was going to be okay, that she was there for me, and that would always calm me down. I had to try it.

"It's okay, Vale. Everything is going to be okay. I'm here." I hugged her. Usually, I don't hug girls. They have cooties. But Vale was scared. Plus, we are going to get married when we are older, which means I have to hug her. Like Liam does to Bree and Ricky does to Nina.

The guy in the passenger side looked at us. He shook his head no with a sorry grin.

"Did we really just kidnap two kids?" He asked the driver. He just ignored him. "Kids... Victor... kids. Kids who have nothing to do this. Their parents might have killed Robert, but they didn't. You made the parents suffer already, but don't make the kids suffer. It's not their fault." The car suddenly stopped.

"Get out of the car." Victor said.

"What? What are you doing, Victor?"

"How dare you disobey an order? I said get out of the car, Red." Victor said, mocking Red when he said his name. Or nickname? Or color? I was so confused. Red seemed confused, but he slowly got out of the car. Victor took out a gun and we heard a gunshot.

Vale and I cried. We didn't look, and we didn't want to.

Victor just drove, leaving Red behind. After a while, we stopped. The bad man next to us, got out, which made us feel a little more relieved. But... are they going to leave us here? In the car? It's hot inside the car. I don't like it.

The door opened and we cried. Nope! I feel better in the car! I feel better in the car! We both looked at the man, and fear entered through my body. Tears ran down my cheeks and I couldn't stop sobbing. I was afraid to cry louder. What if they hurt us? What if he hits me? What if they hit us with the guns?

Vale started crying as the man held her in his arms. He reached out to me but I moved back, so he couldn't catch me.

"Come on kid, I don't have time for this." He said and reached out for me. I bit his finger as hard as I could. He screamed in pain and then I fell down on the seat. "You son of a bitch." Vibrations of pain ran through my face. He hit me. The bad man hit me.

I couldn't help but to start crying at the pain.

"Shut him up!" Victor said. The bad man grabbed the collar of my shirt with one hand and pulled me to him.

"If you don't shut up, I'm going to throw you to the monsters." I knew the monsters. I knew what they did. I knew what they were capable of. They eat people. I've seen it and it scared me.
