Hiding From the Dead: Chapter XVII

After a couple of minutes driving, almost everyone was asleep. Nina, Vale, Zoe, Red and Jayden, who was sitting on the window while I was on the middle. I looked at Liam, who was half asleep. He smiled and grabbed my hand.

"We made it." He said and I smiled. I was scared something bad would happen, but I didn't want to ruin his happiness. I just smiled and nodded. He noticed I wasn't feeling his happiness. "What's wrong?" He asked, and while other people would say nothing, I decided to be honest.

"Everything. Everything's wrong. We were supposed to get to get bunker with no problem. It was supposed to take us three days top, and instead, we've been three weeks. A guy wanted to rape me, and then I killed him. You killed people too. Everything is wrong." I managed to not cry this time, but I was about to. I thought Liam would think I was crazy because of the way I was talking, but he just nodded and hugged me.

"We both knew this wasn't going to be easy. But we are only four hours away. We just need to find the passcode to enter." He said and I looked at him, this huge urge to kill him entering my body. I just looked at him, biting my tongue, not knowing what to say. Instead, Ricky answered, who was eavesdropping on our conversation.

"What do you mean you don't know the passcode to enter? Are you fucking kidding me? We went through all this shit and you don't know the passcode?" Ricky sounded as stressed as I was and with the same urge to kill him.

"Liam Morgan, I could kill you right now." Was the only thing I managed to say.

"I don't know what the passcode is, but I know where it is. Since my uncle is crazy, he kept it hidden in his house and I know where he kept it." Liam said in which Ricky just groaned in frustration.

"So where is your uncle's house?" Ricky asked.

"I'll drive when we get to New Jersey." Liam told him and he nodded. We were both still feeling like we wanted to kill him because he didn't tell us the part about needing a passcode. But I couldn't stay mad at him for too long.

Liam rested his head against the window and looked outside. He closed his eyes and I looked at him. He started chewing his lower lip, which I found quite funny.

"What are you looking at?" He asked and opened his eyes. I chuckled.

"You chew your lips." I said and he smiled.

"Yeah. I have to chew my lip in order to sleep." I hadn't noticed before because most of the time I'm the first one to sleep. I chuckled, and then I remembered the bullet wound on Liam's shoulder, the one that Nina had stitched up a couple of days back. I pull his shirt to the side revealing the wound. It looked like it was healing normally and it wasn't infected. He smiled.

"I know everyone is sleeping but this is not the place to get naked." He teased and I rolled my eyes. "I'm kidding." I smiled and shake my head no. He looked at my face with a smirk and I looked directly into his eyes. A silence ran through the van. We could only hear the tires bouncing on the street and Red's low snores.

Another person would have thought the silence between us was awkward, but I loved it. "You are so beautiful." Liam said, almost as a whisper, breaking the silence. I put my hands behind his head and pull him into a passionate kiss.

No other person had ever called me beautiful, at least not the way he said it. I just wanted to kiss him forever and never let him go.

"I love you, Liam Morgan." I said between kisses. I saw him smirk.

"I love you too, Breanna Myers." He said in a way made my stomach fill with butterflies. My breath quickened as our kiss grew deeper. I felt like we were alone. Like we were the only two people in the world. Like we could do anything we wanted. But I remembered that wasn't true, when I heard an annoyed Ricky.
