The impact of her fist was hard, but bastard did not even flinch.

Liam's fists clenched hard along with  his eyes. Not because he was in pain. But because Eva was.

"Are you too?" She asked Rush, her voice was deadly calm, "Are you also married, or engaged or whatever the fuck that involves other girls in your life?"

"No." Rush sighed in distress. They had given her a reason to doubt them, and it was not even a small one.

Eva looked away from his face for a second, but then her eyes came back to glare down at him,

"But you are a partner in his lie, aren't you? Why did you both make me false promises when you were going to dump me anyway?"

She asked in a seething voice. She could not even breath properly because of the overwhelming pain of her feelings and emotions.

"I am not a plaything, God fucking damn it!" She finally screamed when the pain she was feeling in her chest came out in form of a cry.

"We know that." Rush said very calmly while trying to control his own pain that he was feeling in his heart upon seeing her like this.

"Please, just hear us out. You need to hear our explanation before taking any kind of irrational decision. Stop hurting yourself! You know deep down that nothing between us was not real. Nothing you and we feel, is not real."

Though her heart was burning like lava, she tried to control herself. She was not the type of person who let her emotions control her actions like this, like hurting herself.

It has never happened, then why today? Why in front of them?

Maybe because they were the first and last people in her life that she had gotten to call her own, her family, and she got scared upon the mere thought of loosing them.

When she tried to calm herself, Liam took slowl steps towards her to put a hand on her shoulder, but she flinched away.

That flinch was more painful than a knife twisting in his heart.

"Just give me a minute." She said with her teeth clenched in anger.

When she was calm enough to slow down her infuriating thoughts, she turned towards them and bit out,

"Explain."

"First let us tend to your hand." Rush said with worry dripping from his voice.

She gave an angry frustrated sigh before stomping towards her basket of clean clothes, snatching a clean scarf and wrapping it carelessly around her hand to stop the bleeding.

"Now explain before I change my mind." She said in a no nonsense tone.

Though they were feeling unsatisfied with her work on her hand, they chose to not comment on it until this matter was sorted out between them.

Rush gave a curt nod to Liam.

"It happened before we met you." Liam started saying,

"Werewolves are tend to live much longer than humans. My father was beta of our pack and after his death, we took his place as betas of our pack. But I was not satisfied. I wanted to be an alpha since the day I started understanding the meaning of that word."

Liam's eyes were shinning with the memory of his unfulfilled desire. His words were full of need,

"A werewolf's mate is his other half. His soul. We both waited for our mate, for you, for eighty years. It was torturous for both of us because everyone in our pack of our age had found their mate. We were the only ones who had not. We assumed that our mate was probably dead and started loosing hope of finding one."

Liam's eyes went to Rush, who nodded at him in assurance to continue,

"Last year, our Alpha offered me the position of alpha if I were ready to marry Aster. She is his daughter. Aster also was unable to find her mate. So to save both of us from spending a dreadfully long life alone, he gave that offer to me. He also offered Rush to find him a wife but Rush skipped that subject with him."

"Having nothing to loose in that offer I agreed to marry Aster but Aster asked for a little time from her father so that we could understand each other better. We got engaged. I am to become alpha when we get married."

"So why did not you tell me all of this when we met?" She asked with difficulty, her throat was burning terribly,

"You were planning to leave me from the beginning were not you?" Her words got choked with tears,

"No baby, of course not." Liam rushed towards her to cup her face in his palms just as Rush came close to her to lean her body in his arms from behind, supporting her.

"So you will break your engagement with Aster?" She asked in a hopeful tone.

"Of course, he will, sweetheart." Rush cooed to her like she was the most fragile thing in the world right now.

When Liam did not answer, her gaze went up to him to hear the same words from his mouth,

"Liam?" She whispered.

"I.. I can not lose the throne baby." Liam whispered in an agonized tone,

"My marriage with Aster will be just a formality. Just let me become the alpha then I will be all yours."

"What?" She sputtered out the words in shock just as Rush shouted angrily,

"What the fuck?"

"I know how it sounds but after so many years of yearning I am seeing my dream come true. You are my mate, I can not live without you but please baby let me have the throne."

"I will not become your mistress, Liam." She finally shouted.

Liam became enraged after hearing her foul words about herself,

"God damn it! Don't see it that way. Think of the day you will become my queen. And my brother will rule by my side. Marriage with Aster would be just an fake alliance."

"Stop behaving like a power hungry bastard. I will not ruin another girl's life to live like a queen." Her eyes glistened with tears when she said,

"Do not leave me please."

"For God's sake, listen to me!" He shouted. "I am not leaving you but I am not changing my decision either."

"I am not going to live as your whore." Eva whispered,

"You decide what is much more important to you in your life. If it is me, then stay here, if not, then please walk out of here and never come back."

His decision was already made.
