A week later

Liam's POV

"Eva, do not sit there." I rushed to her by the window and grabbed her before she could sit on the sill. For some reason, she was obsessed with sitting there while staring out. Her eyes twinkled with happiness whenever she sat there.

"Come here," I whispered and gently grabbed her hand while taking her to the couch sitting right in the hall that gave the clear view of outside, "Wait for me here, I will be back once I grab our breakfast, okay?"

She nodded in acceptance and quietly sat where I told her too. Once I was sure that she was not going to move from her spot I ran to the kitchen to grab our breakfast.

I was honestly doing my best to stay calm and composed. Rush was still unconscious, but thankfully alive. The pack doctors and witches said that he was given some unnatural substance that had made him go into a deep sleep. So it could take him either one more day to wake up or one more year. No one knew for sure how much time exactly it was going to take or if Rush was going to wake up again or not. There was just hope that he will.

Eva's memory and voice had the same case. Due to the shock and the impact on her head, she had lost every bit of her memory and we did not know if she was ever going to remember anything ever. She was also unable to speak right now. But doctors were hopeful that it would come back sooner than her memory.

Once doctors had said she was good to go home, I brought her to this new house. I obviously could not take her to that wretched place that had so many bad memories.

When she had asked what I meant to her, what my relationship was to her, I was speechless. What would I have said?

I could not tell her I was her husband. Her boyfriend. She had taken that right away from me and I had already hurt her enough. I did not have enough strength to betray her trust once again by becoming more than what she would have wanted me to be right now. I could not take advantage of her vulnerability.

So I told her we were friends. Best friends.

"Do you want to go out today?" I questioned enthusiastically as I carried the plate of food to her.

Putting down the plate of mushroom omelettes and bacon on the table in front of the couch, I came around to sit beside her.

The sight from here was honestly breathtaking. The greenery of the jungle, the high grounds, the river flowing a bit away from our house, the smell of the wet sand, everything was intoxicating. Calm.

Without waiting for my invitation Eva picked up the fork and started eating her part while nodding her head in acceptance at my question. Every time her supple lips parted to take a bite, I had to divert my gaze and attention to hide my desires from her.

She was the love of my life, her every action, even sitting here quietly ignited a passion so raw inside me that it became hard for me to control myself from touching her. Most of the time I found myself staring at her, wanting to touch her, to kiss her, to take her in my arms, cuddle on the couch, sleep in the same bed as her. But I knew she will hate me more if I did these things right now and there was no way in hell I wanted that. I would give my life before Eva started to hate me any more than she already did.

Once we were done eating I grabbed her hand and grabbed the keys from the table of my porche.  I needed to see Rush too in the evening. But I could not take Eva with me to meet Rush. Her own condition was not good right now. I could not risk her seeing Rush and having a fit or seizure.

"You look great." I complimented her while eying her yellow and white sundress that reached her mid-thigh and hung beautifully against her gorgeous body.

Her eyes came to me while pushing back the loose, wavy strands falling on her face and subconsciously touching the bandage wrapped around her head with a small smile of gratitude. Gosh, how much I had missed her I could not describe in words. Her every memory, every little smile was etched into my head and now after having her in my arms once again felt like heaven itself had walked up to me and hugged me.

"Do you want to drive?" I asked her.

Her shocked and frightened gaze immediately shot to me.

I started laughing,

"Just kidding, babe. Of course, I would never let you drive in this condition."

She pouted and looked away with a huff. She was so fucking adorable.

"Hop in princess." I chuckled and opened the passenger door for her.

Giving me her eyes set in slits, she climbed in. I immediately rounded the car to go sit. Once we were settled I pulled the car out of the driveway and headed out for our activities.

"Got anything specific in mind?" I asked Eva.

She thought for about a second before mouthing, "Movie?"

"Then let's watch a movie." I grinned and drove a bit faster to get to the theatre.

Four Hours Later

After watching the Birds of Prey, and Eva's most amusing expressions at every scene, with popcorns, pizzas and lots of soda I and she headed back home. We were halfway there when I got a call from Aster.

I and Aster had broken our marriage and had filed for divorce. We both knew that our happiness lied somewhere else and together we were just a disaster.

As I stopped the car and picked up the phone, Aster snapped from the other side,

"Get here right now. We have got company."
