Just as the words left Aster's lips, all the color drained from Eva's face and left her looking as white as a ghost.

In that moment she hoped like hell that whatever had come out of Aster's mouth was a lie. Whatever bullshit she had uttered was not true.

In the past hour whatever had happened between her, Rush and Liam, she had gained everything in that. She had felt content and complete for just one second. One fucking second! It can not be snatched from her this soon.

Her questioning gaze went to Liam's face. She could not say anything. What was there to say?

She just needed to see that one look on Liam's face that removed every worry from her mind. She just needed one fucking reason to get Aster out of her face.

But Liam did not spare even a look in her direction. His gaze was stuck to Aster.

It was not shock. His gaze held pure rage.

"What the fuck do you think you are doing? Let's get the fuck out of here and talk!" Liam growled angrily and came forward to grab Aster's arm.

But Aster instantly pushed his arm away without removing her gaze from Eva's. Her eyes held the kind of confidence that was hard to ignore the seriousness of.

And right in that moment Eva knew, Aster was telling the truth. It was Liam who had been lying the whole time.

Eva looked at Liam but his eyes never came to her. Either his ignorance was deliberate or unconscious, Eva could not comprehend. All that she knew was, she needed to hear the truth from Liam's mouth.

The way Liam kept averting his gaze away from her, Eva did not even need to confirm those words.

She gave one last look to Liam. And that look was not full of anger and hurt and pain like last time. This time she could not feel anything else than betrayal.

When had he turned into such a son of a bitch?

Eva moved her eyes away from everyone else in the room, sidestepped Aster, and swiftly started getting out of the room.

Just as she was going to pass by Liam, he grabbed her by her elbow. And of course, with his supernatural strength, there was nothing that Eva could do but stop in her tracks. Her emotionless eyes instantly went to him and stared blankly at his face.

Liam was feeling everything from the depth of his heart. Every emotion had suddenly become so strong that he thought he was going to choke on them.

The most prominent of them, guilt. He knew that he had fucked up. And this time, there was no going back.

The look on Eva's face clearly conveyed that he had just shut every door of his return in Eva's heart with his own fucking hands.

He tried to say something. To apologize? Or maybe to give a rational explanation for his actions? But nothing came out.

She had without even saying anything had rendered him speechless and he had not even realized the depth of his mistake yet.

Eva's eyes stayed on him. But there was nothing she felt but coldness towards him.

The man who had turned her world upside down with his first look, had just given her a reason to never, ever trust him in her lifetime again.

She could not even think of a way to ever see him again. Because she knew, that there was nothing she will ever see or feel after looking at his face other than his lies and his ability of convincing people of them.

She had thought that she knew him. She had thought that there was nothing in the world that is going to be more important to her than keeping Liam and Rush in her life.

Now as she looked at Liam, she had suddenly started doubting every decision that she had ever made in her life. Liam had already betrayed her. How long was it going to take for Rush to break everything inside her in tiny little pieces.

Liam had already broken her in half. She did not think that she was ready to become lifeless just yet.

"I do not even know what to say anymore." Eva said softly to Liam who was still holding her by the elbow without saying a word,

"You have already damaged what I had felt for you. You got what you wanted. You got my body. You got my heart. You owned my soul. And then you sold all of that for your Alpha position."

Eva sighed and looked away from him to Aster, who was standing behind him without any emotion, any anger or remorse on her face,

"I hope it was a good deal you got out of selling my pride, respect and body for your selfish hunger for superiority."
