"Eva!" I cradled her unconscious body in my arms and shook gently, trying to open her eyes.

But she was barely breathing. If it were not for the low thump of her heart, I would have thought she is dead.

I grabbed the phone from my pocket and immediately dialed a number. Gabe, the Beta of our pack and one of my close friends picked up the phone after a couple of rings.

Before he could even utter a word, I spat, "Get fucking every search party out in the woods and my company to find Rush! Right FUCKING NOW!"

"What is happening, dude?" Gabe asked, his voice had already turned serious and alert,

"Just fucking do as I have said!" I blasted and threw the phone across the hall carelessly.

I immediately picked Eva up in my arms while shooting up from the ground. With her bloody frame in my arms I rushed towards the door.

The five minutes of hell to reach the doctor will always remain in my head. I was in a trance when I dropped Eva on the hospital bed and roared for the doctor.

I was pushed out of the door when they took over Eva to start treating her. As soon as Eva was under doctor's attention, I shifted to my wolf form to find Rush.

My feet sprinted across the woods like a madman, trying to find Rush. An hour passed but there was no sign of him. My wolf was in frenzy, wildly searching for him.

My heaving breaths were uncontrollable. My mind was unstable. The thought of losing the two most important people in my life in just day, made me want to die.

Suddenly Rush's scent hit my muzzle. The next thing I was losing the ground beneath me to follow the scent and find him.

When the scent came to an end I saw a man grabbing Rush's jaw and shaking it. In my fury and confusion I did not even see who it was and attacked him blindly.

The man did not attack me back but shouted, "Liam!"

I came out of the blind trance to find Gabe underneath me with a scratch on his face caused by me.

"I found Rush." He managed to splatter out the words.

Leaving him on the ground I lunged to Rush. He was breathing, but for some reason he was unconscious.

"What is wrong with him?" Turning to my human form I questioned hastily.

Gabe did not answer and I did not even wait for him to. I lifted Rush up on my shoulders, ready to run.

"Take the car!" Gabe shouted and threw the keys of his car at me.

Snatching the keys mid air with Rush on my back I ran towards the car.

I settled Rush in the passenger seat beside me, put the seat belt on him for security and drove off immediately.

Rush's head lolled to the side. His eyes a bit open but the pupils roaming from left to right aimlessly but continuously.

Making sure to make the ride as smooth as possible while at the same time fast, I drove to the hospital. It took ten minutes of ride to reach the hospital.

As soon as we were there, I threw open the door and ran to get Rush out of the passenger seat.

Seeing him in this condition was breaking me to the core. I had never imagined that things would ever come to this.

I lifted him up on my back and carried him in the hospital as fast as I could. There was no clear sign or indication of outer injury. But he was not waking up and that was what scaring me the most.

"Where the fuck is the fucking doctor!!!" I blasted out in fury while putting him in the bed.

The pack doctor immediately rushed to me.

"I am taking over. Please back off, alpha." The doctor said firmly.

I had betrayed everyone, even my own self to hear the word that had just come out of the doctor's mouth. That alpha title. That word. That honour. I had sacrificed everything to hear it. I has given up on everything just to get it.

But now as the doctor said the word, it hit me like a stone. Unwelcomed, harsh and painful. I did not want it anymore. I had realized where my true happiness lied. I had realized what I wanted and it was not the alpha title.

It was Rush and Eva that I wanted and there was nothing beyond my sight.

Trying to control the jerk inside me who wanted nothing more than to control every move that the doctor made, I breathed in and out heavily. This was not the time to lose my mind.

One of the doctors present there dragged me out of the room.

"Where is Eva?" I hastily asked.

"Still in operation theater." He responded with a guilty look, "Her injuries are severe and deep."

My heart sank with his each word. From the look on his face only I could say that he was trying to cover the thing up as much as possible so that I would not get hurt.

I was already hurt. Already broken. Already so damaged.

"Is she going to wake up?" My throat choked up while saying the words.

"We are trying our best, alpha."
