Clarke and Lexa had danced the night away somehow ending up asleep limbs tangled on the floor of their wardrobe that day. It had been two whole months since the incident at the club. Clarke and Lexa were strong as ever but everyone else was slowly slipping away. Raven had moved out of the house with Anya taking her daughter with her. Octavia had offered her and Alex a place at her two bedroom apartment with Lincoln but Raven didn't want to intrude and decided to continue staying at the Blair Guest house which Clarke had no problem with. Clarke was no longer on talking terms with Anya she would not acknowledge her if her life depended on it. Lexa on the other hand had a stern talk with her sister and forgave her for everything. Clarke was going to fire Titus but Lexa begged her to spare him and she did only on some conditions. That he remained in the background at any decision made. He had no right to include his thoughts on anything. Lexa found that harsh but remained quiet about it she didn't want to push her luck. Long story short everyone wasn't as close as they were before the big family had divided and it just wasn't the same anymore."I have to go Lex" Clarke smiled at her wife who still had a tight hold on her waist.
"No you don't you can stay in my arms forever and we can rot together" Lexa pouted tightening her hold on her.
Clarke laughed. "You really are dramatic. As charming as that sounds you're going to make me miss my flight" Clarke tried to get free from her hold but she wasn't budging. Clarke huffed and went in for plan B.
Lexa bursts out into fits of laughter after Clarke hit her tickle spot loosening her grip. Clarke quickly jumped out the bed and headed straight for the bathroom.
"That's cheating" Lexa shouted before Clarke closed the door to start her shower.
Clarke emerged from the bathroom twenty minutes later showered naked with wet hair and beautiful as ever. Lexa sat there and admired her for as long as she could. Clarke was frantically putting on her clothes and locating her passports for her trip.
"Why do you have to leave me?" Lexa asked with a frown while tilting her head like a sad puppy. Clarke couldn't help but smile at the adorable action.
"Don't do that" Clarke pouted. "You know how important this meeting with Russia is if it was up to me I would've stayed here with you but duty calls. You should know..." Clarke stopped herself she knows how hard it is fo Lexa to see her take a position that was once hers even if she doesn't voice it. Clarke knows she always knows.
Lexa only nodded and got out of bed. "Just come back soon, okay?" Lexa said softly like she was scared she wouldn't come back.
"I will" Clarke slipped on her heels and walked over to where Lexa was now standing. "Can't have you getting tired of waiting for me now can I ?" Clarke leaned in and gave her wife a soft chaste kiss.
Lexa smiled. "Do you want me to ride with you to the airport?" Clarke shook her head. "I'll be fine Lex" Clarke kisses her cheek and went on to grab her luggage and headed for the door.
"I love you" Clarke said before opening the door alerting her bodyguards.
"I love you" Lexa watched as her wife completely leave the room. Clarke would be gone for approximately two weeks and Lexa really didn't know what her life was without her.
__________
Lexa walked up to the tall brick building ringing the buzzer she was soon buzzed in. Lexa made her way inside the elevator to the top floor. Clarke had been gone for three days now and Lexa decided it was time to get out of the White House. Taking Octavia up on the job offer. It was amazing to see where the great Clarke Griffin used to work all these years and Lexa never knew this building was once hers. Now Clarke was President of the whole country. Lexa would be lying if she said she didn't miss feeling and being the most powerful woman in the world but she did it for Clarke and she was her world so did she really lose anything. Lexa shook her thoughts away and stepped out of the elevator greeted by a average size brown skinned man.
"If it isn't the former president Lexa Woods in the flesh" the man smiled and held out his hand. Lexa was hesitant at first but shook it. "I'm Wells I've heard a lot about you well I'm sure everyone has" Lexa just nodded taking off her coat. Wells took it and hung it up.
"Follow me" he said "I'll give you a quick tour" Lexa nodded and followed him. Something about the guy facial features reminded her of someone she just couldn't put her finger on it.
"This is the lounging area it's mostly for the mornings when everyone is cranky and need their coffee" he laughed. Wells moved down the hall and Lexa followed. "This is the waiting area for clients until to they're called into the bosses office" he pointed to the big open office that sat between all the other rooms.
"Is that where Clarke used to work?" Lexa asked still staring at the office.
"Yeah it was sad to see her go she was the face of this place the real lady in red ya know?" Wells smiled remembering the times they've had in this place he really did miss Clarke she was truly the only person who could drill the right people while always getting what she wants. The ambition and charisma the woman brought to the table was something to admire. He missed Clarke but now she's off running the country and she's doing a pretty good damn job at it. "Moving on this is our technician guy Monty. Need to hack anything he's got you covered" Lexa gave him a wave and he returned it.
"This is Harper she's quite the talker" Harper rolled her eyes and shut the door to her office. "And apparently grumpy today!" he yelled.
Lexa had an amused expression on her face. She could see herself getting along with these people but she's not exactly sure where she fits in.
"And last but not least this is the meeting room where everything goes down. The ideas the thinking putting clues together and getting the damn job done" Wells smiled proudly taking in the view of the meeting room himself as if he hadn't seen it before.
"Why do you want me here?" Lexa found herself asking. She was curious as to what use would she have here. She was definitely no Clarke Griffin.
Wells turned around and eyed Lexa up and down trying to decipher if she was being serious or not.
"You want me here because I'm heartless about the old news where they said I had no heart?" Lexa wasn't unqualified but this wasn't her area and this definitely wasn't what she saw herself doing after presidency.
Wells laughs. "We have a comedian everyone!" he shouts to no one in particular. Lexa eyes him up and down not finding him funny what so ever. "We didn't hire you because you're heartless we hired you because you're smart and your quick wit is the only thing we want from you" Wells taps his temple as he continues to talk. "Heartless means you don't feel that you don't give a shit about anyone and I know you do give a shit about someone I've seen you with your family no they're not just your friends oh no they are your family the ones you protect the ones you would die for the ones you love. Then there's Clarke the love of your life the one you can't stop will not stop and always think about at any time of the day no matter how hard you try you can't get her out of your head she clouds your mind she makes you feel like you're on top of the world even when you're below it. That's called love that's a feeling. So tell me Lexa do you not feel?" Wells stares at her intently the kind of look that could get the truth out of anyone.
"I.." Lexa stutters. She never stutters but this man had that affect on anyone she presumed. Lexa actually respects him for his boldness.
"The job is yours Ms. Griffin-Woods but are you willing to take it is the question." Wells grabs his coat and suitcase and leaves out of the room.
Was she willing to be the new fixer of Washington D.C.
