"What if the husband did it?" Harper chimed in. Everyone around the meeting room table laughed.

"There's no way in hell..." Octavia said waddled toward the chalkboard ready to cancel the ambassador of Japan off his wife's list of people who wanted her dead.

"Hold on a sec" Lexa sat her Chinese takeout down on the table and walked over toward the board with hands in her black pants suit. Her two buttons on her white blouse were unbuttoned with the sleeves rolled up. It had been a long night for them all. Papers were scattered about on the table along with Chinese food and sticky notes.

"Maybe it wasn't the husband who killed her but who's to say he didn't get someone else to kill her?" Lexa thought. She drew a line from the husband to a question mark. "But why?"

"Maybe he found out about an affair or something? Or maybe she saw something she wasn't supposed to see?" Wells stood as well drawing another line from the question mark to one of her husbands close associates.

"I think we have our first suspect" Lexa clasped her hands together. "Wells go see if you can get any dirt on our new suspect. Harper, Monty go check out his house and report back to me if you see anything out of the ordinary" Lexa placed the marker back on the board and watched as everyone else scatter out of the room. The door closed to the meeting room and Octavia and her were the last two left.

Lexa began to clean up the mess on the table. "Hey can I talk to you?" Octavia asked leaning on the table looking directly at Lexa.

"Sure. What's up?" Lexa stopped her movements and gave Octavia her full attention.

"You've become quite the leader of this place in the past two weeks you've been here" Octavia took a seat in the nearest chair her feet were killing her. Being pregnant had its ups and downs.

"Oh shit I'm sorry O, I'm not trying to take your job or anything like that." Lexa looked down.

"No that's what I want to talk to you about. I want you to take the job Lexa. I cant keep doing this I have a kid on the way." Octavia confessed this job was harder than she would like to admit.

"Then why did you come back to it?" Lexa was confused. She could have let this place go to the ground why did she keep it.

Octavia smiled, a sad smile. "This place is the only place I've ever known. Clarke Griffin build this place she was this place and I couldn't let her down"

Lexa only nodded. They sure did look up to Clarke here and Lexa doesn't think she could ever compete with that.

"I don't think I deserve to get a position so big in such little time. Wells deserves this more than me he's been here way longer and seems to know what he's doing"

She hadn't been here long enough just a little over two weeks. Lexa liked it here but she didn't see this as a permanent situation.

"You were born to lead Lexa. I know its not as good as being president but just think about it okay?"

Octavia stood and grabbed her coat leaving Lexa to think alone.

Yes Lexa missed being on top of the world she felt useless in the world now. At least this job she can try to fix some mistakes. Maybe she will take the job it's not like she has anything else better to do. The ringing of her phone took her out of her thoughts. It's two in the morning who would be calling her at such a late hour. Lexa grabbed her phone and smiled answering the phone as Clarke face appeared on the screen.

"Hi" Clarke voice came through the phone. It was currently ten in the morning in Russia.

"Hey shouldn't you be on a plane here by now?" Lexa could see that Clarke was still in what looked to be a hotel room.

"Yeah about that..." Clarke averted her eyes from the phone.

"You're not coming home" Lexa sighed. "You were supposed to be home two days ago Clarke."

"The meetings are running longer than I thought and I can't just leave without making some progress with the leader" Clarke tried to explain but Lexa had just given up. She missed Clarke and she just wanted her home but she also knows this comes with the job.

Lexa leaned on the table and rubbed her face trying to calm herself.

"Lex.." Clarke's face was now fully in the phone screen trying to get Lexa's attention. "I'll be home soon just one more day please don't be mad" Clarke pleaded with her wife.

Lexa nodded. "I don't want to talk about this anymore"

"Okay then how was work?" She kept the conversation light trying to not make their situation worse. When Clarke heard about Lexa working at her old firm she was thrilled it'd be good for Lexa.

"Octavia offered me her position and I'm not sure if I'm up for it. I don't want to be responsible for everyone else I've known the feeling before and I'm not as near as qualified as you were. I'm not the great Clarke Griffin and I'm certainly not Madam President anymore." Lexa looked down she needed to clear her head this was not how she saw herself after presidency.

"Lexa you don't have to be me to succeed. You're an incredible woman and an extraordinary leader. Do you know how hard it was for me to feel your shoes when I ran as the new Madam President. I'm pretty sure I only won the election out of pity as the grieving widow. You have a magnificent mind and you're head strong and determined don't sell yourself short babe. If you won't keep striving for yourself then do it for me because I believe in you I've always have and I always will"

Lexa never knew how much she needed to hear those things until Clarke said them. She would love this woman until the day she dies that was a promise.

"Thank you I really needed to hear that." Lexa smiled sweetly at her wife.

"Anytime babe" Clarke winked and giggled. It was music to Lexa ears. "Anything else new I should know about?"

"I actually have to talk to you about-"

"I'm sorry sweetie I have to go. Talk to you soon love you bye"

"I love you t-" the called ended and Lexa sighed. It was hard not having Clarke around all the time. She felt.....empty and alone and those weren't the greatest combinations. Lexa decided to sleep in her office for the night. It was pointless going home if Clarke wasn't there beside her holding her to sleep at night.

One more day and Clarke would be home, Lexa thought. But one more day turned into two and two turned into two more weeks and Lexa began to lose hope that Clarke was ever coming back home.
