Chapter Fifteen
Veronica, Jughead, Betty, and Archie were ready to leave and keep looking for the fleece. Abigail planned to help Percy regain feeling in his body again. Just as they were all leaving the ride -the ground began to shake- almost as if there was an earthquake.
"What's happening?!" Betty asked
"It's an earthquake" Veronica shouted hoping that she was correct as she ducked her head between her elbows
"It's not an earthquake!" Percy attempted to shout, but only Abigail who was right next to him was able to hear him. "It's Polyphemus!" he exclaimed making Abigail jump up to find her friends
"Guys it's Polyphemus!!" Abigail screamed at them all
Archie grabbed his sword and threw the other one to Jughead. Betty had a bow and arrow plastered to her hip, while Veronica's choice of weapon was also her handcrafted sword.
The ground was still shaking and it was beginning to get difficult to stand up. With every step they took the ground would shake below them making them all trip and fall over.
After a few minutes the shaking stopped.
Veronica slowly opened the door to see if the coast was clear. She motioned for Jughead, Archie, and Betty to follow behind her. They went outside and saw that the ground was soaking wet and it had finally stopped snowing. Completely out of nowhere the air felt like a summer's day.
"What the hell happened?" Jughead whispered trailing behind Veronica
"I don't know but we have to find Polyphemus. He must be guarding the fleece" she urged
"Where should we start?" Betty asked
"Follow the footsteps" Archie suggested looking at the ginormous footprints on what was left of the melting snow.
The snow was quickly melting so the group was walking fast, yet carefully through the large puddles attempting to find where Polyphemus was hiding. It was the only way that they could get the fleece in time. Even if it meant killing a cyclops. Which Veronica didn't care about, but Percy would most likely care a little bit.
Veronica stopped them outside of a cave. It was a mountain themed roller coaster that went through this caved in and carved out a fake mountain. They went over the metal railings of the ride and started to go inside.
"How do you know Polyphemus is in here?" Jughead asked
Suddenly there was a ear splitting growl that came from inside the cave. It caused a giant wind the blow against the group and then Veronica said "Just a hunch" as she attempted to fix her hair
The four of them quietly proceeded into the cave further where they saw a ginormous fifteen foot cyclops known in mythology as Polyphemus. He was stomping on the floor holding onto the fleece tightly within his fingers. A face of anger and discomfort was on his face as he continuously shouted to himself. He said things including "This damn fleece use to attract satyrs all the time. Why now when I'm hungry no one is coming for this stupid thing"
