Chapter Fourteen
"Aeetes Land?" Betty said confused as to what the name means "This looks like the world's most depressing amusement park" she said as they all began walking more inland
"Aeetes was the guardian of the Golden Fleece before he was killed by Polyphemus. This amusement park use to be a secure place for demigods to come and have a normal life for a few hours before returning to camp" Veronica explained
"How do you know so much about this stuff?" Archie asked
Veronica glared over at Abigail because she didn't know how to answer. Abigail quickly cut her off and said "Veronica is the daughter of one of the most smartest goddesses. Knowledge of mythology is in her blood"
"So did your mother teach you about this stuff?" Archie asked
"Archie please be quiet. We can't let Polyphemus hear us right now" Abigail said as they started to get more inland where the closed amusement park rides were held.
They walked towards one of the rides that was labeled Polyphemus' Hideaway.
Jughead had been behind the group while they were taking a look around the deserted island. Not a single person or even the insinuation of life was visible on the surface of the island. Being as they now had some time to look around the island in safety to find the fleece Jughead sat down to think by himself for a few minutes.
He was thinking about the last month of his life and how much his life has changed in only just a month. In just the course of a month he has nearly died twice. He had been told that he was the descendant of ancient Greek mythology figures. He had met the girl of his dreams before his life changed. Now he was on a mission with his friends in order to find a fleece that could save all the lives of the demigods at camp.
No pressure or anything.
"Jug...Jughead" Veronica said tapping him on his shoulder bringing him back to reality. "Come on we're going to check a different part of the island and we don't want anyone to get lost" she explained
"Veronica can I ask you something?" he asked as they were walking to where Abigail, Betty, and Archie were standing
"Of course" she said
"Do you really think it's my destiny to bring the Gods into a new age of enlightenment?" he asked making Veronica stop in her tracks and make Jughead sit down on the curb of one of the rides.
She sat down next to him and said "I honestly don't know. I know as your girlfriend I should always believe in you, but the truth is this world that we are a part of in extremely unpredictable. But Jughead in the short time that I've known you I know that you are powerful and strong enough to create your own destiny. If you truly believe you can do something then you of all people have the capability of achieving it"
