Chapter Twenty-Four
The next morning.
This was the big day that all of them were waiting for since the night of the cookout. Veronica was the first one to Chiron's office to get the last few things for the mission. Everyone in the camp came outside in their pajamas to wish the group luck of the journey to Mount Olympus. Some were giving them high fives. Others who had grown closer to them were embracing each other in large amounts of hugs.
Chiron walked with Veronica to the entrance of camp where the other eleven people were waiting for her. He handed her a few things that she put into her backpack. It wasn't going to be like any other mission.
That was something they all knew for sure.
The twelve of them walked out of the camp. It was the first time for Millie, Dustin, and Lucas to ever be outside of the camp walls since the day they got here. Mike and Noah had snuck out a few times before. The feeling of the mortal world rushed through their veins as the intense atmosphere and the still practically dark forest was staring at them in the face.
"The real world smells really bad" Dustin said as they all were walking to get out of the forest and make it to a place where there was civilization
"Dustin we've been gone for literally two seconds. Why do you already have to complain" Mike said slightly laughing at his friend
The group slightly laughed as they reached the end of the forest and onto an empty road. "This is going to look so strange to anyone driving past us" Veronica said
"She's right. There's way too many of us to make us look like just runaways. We gotta keep ourselves hidden until we reach the airport" Percy said as they all walked back into the forest
"I hate to be the bearer of bad news here people but I'm not planning on walking all the way to Queens, New York" Abigail said as she loudly blew into a large whistle that was in her backpack. She blew the whistle twice and then she looked up in the sky waiting for something to happen
Everyone looked up in the sky and then Noah said "Are we waiting for something?"
"Yeah.....that" Abigail said pointing at the large truck that appeared in front of them. She opened up one of the doors and all of a sudden there was a person sitting in the front seat of the truck. She looked at the person and said "We need to get to the airport"
"Hop on in kids. I can get you there in a flash" the driver said laughing as red lightning bolts came out of his hands as he held onto the steering wheel.
"Now this right here is a deathwish waiting to happen" Percy said as he was hesitant to get into the truck yet he did anyways. He and Jughead were the last ones to get into the truck. They looked at one another as Percy said "How in the Underworld did you ever find this thing? What even is this thing?"
