CHAPTER 22: SCARLET

Rhian's POV

She became silent. Nakakunot ang noo niya, halatang nagugulohan.. it's as if the information is not processing in her head.

Ano ba? Ayaw niya ba?

Parang nagsisisi na ko na sinabi ko sakanya. I expected a better reaction from her. But why am I even expecting from her? Iniwan at binalewala niya nga ako, kami, diba? Pero huli na, I can't take it back.

I didn't plan to tell her the truth today pero nangyari na eh. Susunduin ko lang sana sila Miracle and Bea from my parents' house nang nakita ko si Glaiza na kinakarga si Scarlet. I was shocked to see her but when I saw the happiness on my daughter's face, I knew that was the right time to tell Glai about Miracle. Alangan naman sabihin ko kay Miracle na hindi yun ang momma niya, i know my daughter, she wouldn't believe me. And I know magtataka si Glai, so might as well tell her diba?

"Ano? P-paano?" Finally, Glaiza said something.

"Her name is Scarlet Miracle. She's our daughter. I pushed through with the IVF." I told her.

She looked intently into my eyes... searching. Is she trying to read me, if I'm telling the truth?

I'm starting to get pissed. Ano akala niya? Nagpabuntis ako sa iba?!

Sinamaan ko siya ng tingin.

"Momma" Suddenly, Miracle's tiny hands were on either side of Glaiza's face to get her attention kaya napatingin naman siya sakanya.

"I wubb you, Momma" Scarlet softly told Glaiza then hugged her.

Glaiza's expression slowly softened and smiled. I guess, the news and reality finally sunk in her.

"I love you too, baby Scarlet." she answered, medyo garalgal ang boses, and teary-eyed. She hugged her back tightly and gave our daughter kisses on her cheeks.

I admit, I felt so much joy sa nakita ko. My chest was filled with so much happiness that my eyes were also starting to water. I used to dream of this moment.

But I had to compose myself. There are some things I have to make sure of.

"Bubby, Mommy and Momma will make snacks for you in the kitchen muna ha? Stay here with Ate Bea, okay?" I told Scarlet and took her from Glaiza's arms.

We have to talk but not in front of Miracle, baka magkasagutan pa kami, ayoko makita ng anak namin yun.

"Mommy, sama Scarlet please." she pouted when I put her down.

"Miracle, stay here nalang, okay? Play muna kayo ni Ate Bea." I told her and kissed her forehead.

She asked me some questions on our way to the kitchen pero di ko siya sinasagot.

"Before I answer any of your questions.. let's make things clear first.

I'll tell you everything you need to know about our daughter. If you still have any questions, I'll answer them, if and only if they're related to Miracle." I said to her, once we were inside the kitchen.

"Ok. Naiintindihan ko.." She uttered.

Nagkatitigan kami, for God knows how long.

Rhi, you should be making sandwiches, remember?

I rolled my eyes and went to the fridge. I was getting the ingredients for clubhouse sandwiches nang bigla siyang lumapit sakin at akmang kukunin sana ang mga hawak ko.

"Uhmm.. Tulongan na kita.." she offered.

"Pwede, umupo ka nalang?"
I tried to calmly tell her and pointed at the stool, across the kitchen island. She sighed before silently walking to the other side and sat on the stool.
