Chapter sixteen (Keo)

Keo flew till he couldn't see Eclipse, Apocalypse, and Stormgrazer. The sand was way behind him. He rubbed the ruby in his scales. Why did we split up? Keo thought. The snow was below him, the others were slowing down quickly. I'm glad I'm not as old as them so I still have a lot of energy.

"Guys come on! We need need to get there!" Shadowhorn said encouragingly.

"I have a feeling that someone is stalking us." whimpered Pyramid.

"Well we're the stalkers here, plus I'll protect you all!" Tidalwave said, totally showing of, as he spread out his wings to display himself but slowed down, and tumbled backward in the wind. He sped up, Tidalwave almost whacked Keo. Keo dodged Tidalwave's flailing wings. Keo felt gentle snowflakes fall onto his wings, he stuck his tongue out and caught a snowflake, he put his tongue back in his mouth. Soon there we be a blissard. Keo thought. He swung his wings over and over again, the snowflakes started swirling, the wind pushed against him, he started not seeing in front of him.

"Guys maybe we should go and take cover." Keo yelled over the wind. He saw all of them nod, they shot down towards a cave. Keo swooped in the cave. Keo landed on the ice, he scrambled, trying to not slip. Ahhh! Keo thought, he flew over to a smooth ice surface and landed. He dug in the ice with his claws.

"Dangit! A blizzard!" Shadowhorn said. Shadowhorn sat down, he saw his spikes rattling.

"At this pace we may never get to the Ice Kingdom in time." Sapphire complained. She sat down, and started sliding, she flew up and hovered. "How do you even sit on ice! It's so slippery!" She said. Keo shifted, he looked out at the swirling blizzard. He sighed. We are never going to get there in this blizzard. He thought. Despite the circumstances Keo was thirsty. He looked at the cave roof, icicles were hanging down, glittering. Keo flew up and snapped one off, and started licking.

"What are we going to do?" Tidalwave said, pacing.

"We don't have clear skies, we don't have Eclipse, Apocalypse, and Stormgrazer, they are chasing Blackstar. I don't even get how Blackstar could be kidnapped?" Keo said. Tears shoved at Keo's eyes and forced him to let them trickle down his cheek then it froze onto his cheeks. Like evil icicles. He wiped the tear icicles off. He looked outside and thought of all the innocent Icewings that would get hurt or killed. What if a younger dragonet got hurt? What if any eggs that didn't even get a chance to see the world get hurt? All because nobody could stop a walking mountain. Keo suddenly felt mad. Why didn't the all powerful and great dragonets of destiny help? What are they doing right now? Protecting some dragonets and protecting their little school when a tribe could be destroyed? Where were they?! Keo sadly flew to the mouth of the cave and looked out at the storm. He could hear the other's conversation.

"What will we do when we get there?" Keo heard Sapphire say. Keo could tell she was panicking.

"I don't know! We don't have any ideas yet! We could go for his eyes!" Shadowhorn replied. "I mean I can go out there I know the Ice Kingdom more than any of you I can navigate myself to the palace and tell Queen Glacier what's happening even though she probably won't let me in" Shadowhorn murmured the last part of his sentence and Keo couldn't hear the rest it seemed the others couldn't either except Tidalwave frowned but didn't say anything.

"Are you saying that we came all this way for no plan?" Tidalwave yelled. Keo looked at the blizzard, and how hundreds of icewings could be dying. Keo did something reckless, he jumped into the blizzard. I am going to get there and save those icewings. Even if it kills me.

"KEO!" Was all he heard them yell Keo dove into the storm, his wings caught a unsuspecting current of wind, he got quickly whisked away by the wind, gaining more speed away from his friends, and towards the Ice Kingdom.
