Dont be flattered ma cherie
If I compare you to the stars
Cause city lights have become brighter than them
And even the candle flame holds more fire
Their existance is diminished and they serve as adornments
To the moon
Even I look prettier with diamonds on my black gown
Than stars can ever darling
Though you didnt think much of it
Diamonds and coal they are the same to you
Like my smiles or my pain to you
You scarcely bestowed your attention to any body and I only polished your ego
But it was my mistake
I mistook a puddle for a lake
Showers for Rain
Loss for gain
Again and again
You held on to me only
Cause I gave showered you with affection
I gifted you my admiration
And I was drugged by your meagre attention
Giving all you asked and more
But dont you ever consider yourself so important or take my compliments seriously
I complemented the mask you wore
The pride you hold
Not the person hidden behind the walls I couldn't scale
Walls I couldn't break
It was my naivety that made me believe you
But I promise you one thing I wont make the same mistake
My innocence searched for the gold at the end of a rainbow
For the good in you
Both of which were merely illusions
I wont give you the credit for shaping me
For I have carved myself
I don't need critique
Especially from yourself
And as far as stars are concerned
I've hung constellations of them on my ceiling.
