The Men In Rows

28 3 1

Men upon men stand in a row

Dressed in black from head to toe

Comrades I fought beside long ago

We still remember the faces of our foe

The cannons would blaze

The soldiers would march

Through the smokes haze

Through the foes arch

We fought for freedom

For country, for honour

No matter where we were from

We were sons, brothers, and fathers

Now we stand together

But, much older

Without surrender

We are soldiers

And though we have been lost

We watch from a shadow

As they honour those who've loss

And the silent pain they know

You can not see us

So, do not try

Over us, do not fuss

Do not cry

Instead listen to the wind

And look at the colours of the sky

To the laughing of kin

To the birds that fly

You will find us there

With all that is good

Where it is peaceful, happy, and fair

Where we are understood

Lest we forget these men in rows

The ones who fought all our foes

The ones who did not so long ago

And lest we forget the family woes

Let us hear them whisper 'remember'

In all months, especially November

For all those who fought without surrender

Let us think and let us remember

If this looks familiar I entered this poem in a remembrance day contest this year.

I swear it's mine. I didn't steal it :)

Happy Remembrance Day

(Although I'm a little late)
