Pretend

Shh now don't speak too loud
Shuffle away melt your voice with the crowd
Don't let the whisperings reach her ears
Who knows what will happen if she overhears

She's as fragile as porcelain dolls
Teetering down the halls
Ready to fall back
With one word she'll start to crack

Hurry now don't let her know
Smile and wave; put on a show
Don't let her guess that somethings wrong
One little sentence and she's gone

She's as flimsy as a flower
Dying in the windy hour
Petals falling away one by one
As careless feet over head run

She can't handle the secrets
The worlds bleakness
Wait till she's stable
Then pray it's not fatal

All the adults thought and said
Thinking they could go on playing pretend
They never considered that she was smart
And perceived a lot through the hole in her heart

She saw their lies
Their fake emotion filled eyes
And still she smiled and laughed
And still she pretended she hadn't crashed

Because she was stronger then they thought
Never the flower stuck in a pot
Never the doll that easily smashed
Only the girl that they thought they could craft

But they can't keep the darkness out
When like weeds it always sprouts
But she could give them the light
If they thought she was still bright
