As Sanyukta was about to enter her room, she dashed into someone.
Shit!
What are you doing out at 4 in the morning?' Vidhushi asked her. Her tone soft.
'Actually, I wasn't getting any sleep, so I thought I will go out for a walk.' Sanyukta held her forehead closing her eyes and pretended to be sleepy. Vidhushi nodded her head.
She placed her palm on her shoulder and said kindly, - 'If you need anything then you tell me, Okay?'
Sanyukta nodded. Vidhushi smiled and began to walk away. Sanyukta frowned and turned around, - 'Vidhushi?'
Vidhushi stopped in her tracks and turned to look at Sanyukta.
'What are you doing up so late?' Sanyukta asked curiously. Vidhushi rolled her eyes drooping her shoulders. She sighed.
'I don't want to but...Today is Karvachauth.' She said sounding completely disinterested. Sanyukta nodded looking away sadly. Vidhushi noticed her sad face.
'Hey!' She walked up to her and held Sanyukta's shoulders. 'What happened?' She asked
Sanyukta shook her head and muttered in a small voice. 'Nothing.'
Vidhushi thought for a while and added, - 'Hey why don't you keep fast for Randhir.' She suggested brightly. Sanyukta looked at her.
Sanyukta was thinking the same but she didn't know how to tell this to Vidhushi. She might misunderstand her. Nevertheless, Sanyukta is happy she suggested it.
'I have heard that unmarried girls can also keep. So, you can keep too.' Vidhushi shrugged. Sanyukta suppressed her smile. Unmarried girls. But Sanyukta is married and she has every right to keep this fast.
'Yes.' Sanyukta nodded determinedly. Vidhushi smiled and asked her to follow her to the kitchen.

The girls entered the kitchen and Vidhushi switched on the lights and when Sanyukta panicked she calmed her down, - 'Relax, Dad and Ankit know I am going to come here. So, don't worry about the lights.'
Sanyukta relaxed. She watched Vidhushi open the fridge and take out few fruits, some dry fruits and two bottles of water. She placed them all on the kitchen slab. She sighed sadly and looked at Sanyukta.
'Since we both don't have mothers-in-law, I guess we have to arrange food ourselves.' Sanyukta's felt bad when Vidhushi reminded her of this. She missed her mother the most now. If she was alive, she would have helped her, guided her through not only the Karvachauth rituals but so much more. Vidhushi sighed.
'I could arrange only this. And this is the first time you are keeping fast, so you might feel hungry and stuff, but don't worry you will get used to it.' She patted Sanyukta's shoulder. The girls exchange smiles.
Sanyukta cut the apple while Vidhushi got busy with dry fruits and arranging water. Finally, everything was done, and the two ladies ate to their heart's content.
'Eat, Sanyukta.' Vidhushi insisted when Sanyukta protested to eat one more banana, - 'After this, you will be eating only when the moon is sighted.' Vidhushi explained.
Sanyukta sighed and glanced at the banana. 'Fine.' She muttered taking the fruit from her sister-in-law.

After they had finished eating, they left the kitchen and walked towards the room.
Sanyukta sighed, - 'I am so excited. My first Karvachauth.' She exclaimed clasping her palms tightly. Vidhushi rolled her eyes.
