Quick warning, Suicide and self harm is mentioned in this chapter so if you are easily triggered I advice you skip this, if not then enjoy this, as much as you can because of the fact it includes sensitive topics
Betty plummeted down and down.
Followed by a huge splash and a loud bunch of fearful screams.
Betty didn't remember much after that, just a sharp, cold feeling when she hit the concrete like water. The impact had been delayed but when she sunk down into the filth full depths of the lake a sharp pain shot down her back and her eyes shot open. She began inhaling the disease infected water as she sunk faster and faster to her death and that was all she could remember before she blacked out.
And just like that a jet black haired member from the shell-shocked audience jumped in after Betty, risking his life at a stupidly courageous attempt to save hers.
He instantly felt the sharp impact hit is body as he began swimming to save Betty. Betty Cooper, the perfect girl next door, hiding so many dark secrets, plastering a smile across her beautiful face, had just attempted suicide. Jughead was shocked. Infant shocked was not the right word to use. More like dismayed in appall to whoever made her feel such a way.
The lake was deep and murky he was struggling to see but he spotted Betty's body, she looked so lifeless, dead almost. He clutched onto her waist holding her tightly whilst trying to hold his breath. He could hear sirens and just about make out the flashing of blue and red lights reflecting of the water, he began to swim, dragging Betty along with him, getting them both to safety.
Jughead was surprised to see that there were no source of help like the police or any paramedics only a bunch of gawping people staring at the two drenched teenagers. But this was the last of his concerns. He pushed down hard on Betty's chest trying to clear her airways and he repeated this until finally she coughed up a huge bit of water. The audience started cheering and then a polite old lady asked him if he would like her to call an ambulance. Jughead shook his head politely. Betty's eyes shot open and she slowly sat up, flinching, clearly in pain. Jughead signaled for her to lie back down whilst he figured out what to do.
The first thing that popped to Betty's mind was why in the world was she still alive. She just wanted to die.
'Why would nobody let her die'
Betty slowly attempted to sit up again and when she had finally succeeded, Jughead decided to try and ask her what was wrong. Clearly a lot if she had just attempted suicide
'Betty' Jughead started.
She didn't answer.
There were still at least 50 unfamiliar faces staring at Betty and Jughead.
For a minute Betty had forgot everything.
The whole Archie thing.
Her secret love for Jughead Jones.
And the fact that there where so many people staring at her.
But when that all came flooding back it was enough to make her break down. She began bawling in front of the huge crowed of people.
Jughead picked Betty up, despite them both being cold and soggy, and carried her away from all of the still gawping, seemingly nosy people.
Betty was surprising light considering that her clothes would of been weighing her down. Jughead noticed Betty's body was very frail and fragile.
Had Betty been starving herself
A tear began to seep its way down Jugheads face as he imagined what Betty has been going through, and all this time he was making her life a living hell.
But what he didn't know was that the whole reason all of this happened is the very reason he moved to college rather than stay in Riverdale, Archie fucking Andrews.
Jughead was still carrying Betty and they began to walk through a small, but beautiful, park. Betty was sobbing into Jugheads shoulder as he placed her on a bench next to him. Betty just sat there, shaking, not speaking.
She looked completely emotionless.
Broken beyond compare.
All Betty had become was sadness, every other emotion pushed from her being. Where once there was a heart full of love, light and happiness was now replaced by an aching hollowness. Every time Archie had cheated to her it added another cut to her already damaged mind, this was the last straw, it was like death to the mind, by a thousand paper cuts, each paper cut representing an aching memory, tearing her world apart, stripping her from the happiness she had once had, all she could remember now was pain, sorrow and disappointment.
Jughead didn't know what to do, or what had even triggered such emotions, or no emotions, to take over Betty like it has.
This wasn't the cute, sexually frustrated Betty he knew and had began to like, this was something else, something much darker and Jughead needed to help.
Betty needed help.
Both Betty and Jughead where shaking and freezing so Jughead decided to pick Betty up and carry her to somewhere warm. He quickly called his roommate to put all the heaters on in the dorm. Then he called for a cab.
Betty was still sat there emotionless, clearly holding back the tears.
The cab pulled up outside the college and Betty and Jughead jumped out. Well Jughead had to pick Betty up as he wouldn't move.
Archie didn't know that Betty knew yet. And Veronica didn't know that Betty had just tried to commit suicide.
Jughead rushed inside the dorm and gently placed Betty down on the couch, he got her a ton of blankets and gave her a bunch of towels.
Betty just lied there with a blank face for hours.
She didn't speak to anyone she just let the tears roll down her face.
'Why can't I be like Veronica, Archie loves Veronica, she is so perfect, so hot, so flawless, why can't I just die. Why did he have to save me, And cause me more pain' Betty's thoughts where slowly tearing her apart, piece by piece.
Jughead got Joaquin to call Kevin, because he was Betty's best friend. Kevin didn't know why he was needed, but he called Veronica as well, as he thought it may have had something to doing with Jughead wanting Betty. They had no idea that that was far from the dark truth.
When Veronica barged in and saw Betty she instantly began crying.
But little did Veronica know the last thing Betty wanted was to see Veronica
'She is so perfect, so flawless, so amazing, I'm so damaged, ugly and broken'
The tears burst forth from Betty's dull eyes like a dam, spilling down her emotionless face. The few walls Betty had left holding her up had completely collapsed.
and she collapsed into Jugheads arms
