I knew this girl.A girl with long golden blonde hair that seemed to go on for miles and mysterious, soulful blue eyes that any living, breathing soul would get trapped in, I knew this girl.
In the state of Florida, I knew a girl.
A girl who took your breath away without trying, made your heart pound faster than you've ever thought could, I knew this girl.
Out of the 20 million people living in Florida, she somehow stumbled into my life.
I met a girl, her name is Hayden Thompson, and this is our story.
------------------------------------------------------------
Hayden's POV:
"There" I sigh looking down at the boxes that covered the floor of my bedroom that would soon be no more. It felt weird not living here anymore. To me, my room was everything. Memories instantly flood back as I stand at the doorway. Although, with my stuff gone this place feels nothing less than a room, which in a way made me relieved. Maybe a fresh start would erase my memory of certain things. Memories too painful to explain, memories that shattered my heart.
Memories of him.
"Hayden you ready?" my mom yelled from down stairs.
"Yeah coming down now." I take one last profound breath and close the door. My new life begins now.
Just the thought of being in the same house as my older brother and my father brings a smile to my face.
Wait I know what you're thinking and no, my parents are not divorced. We used to be all together under one roof, living in Chicago, but not anymore. Since there was a job offer in Florida, my dad moved down and my brother decided to go with them. Now don't get me wrong, I would have moved down earlier, but the thought of being away from my mom fills me with sorrow. I haven't seen my brother or my father in around 2 years, and boy am I excited.
Until now the only time I have seen them was through FaceTime, which wasn't bad, but it's just not the same.
I hop in the car with my mom by my side, as the nerves start to kick in. I don't know why I was so nervous, I mean its family we're talking about here. I try my best to shake them off as I put on my headphones blasting my music.
Let the 16 hour car ride begin!
------------------------
I wake up and open my eyes to the sight of my tired mother with a soft delicate smile.
"Hayden we're here". An instant flow of energy shoots throughout my body as I sit up excitedly looking at the house I would now call home.
It was a light brown almost beige color with white trim accents. It was a gorgeous house. And had a huge lawn.
After processing the view, I open the car door and run up to the door. My heartbeat becomes more rapid as I ring the door bell. A smile creeps onto my face and I can't hold in the excitement. But that smile soon falls when the door opens only to see an unusual face.
"Um is this 3429 Harper drive?" I ask pulling the address up on my phone.
"Yep it is, and you must be, hold on... Hayden, is that right?" The stranger had a deep and dominant voice, but yet a friendly smile. It confused me at first, though turned out to be quite intriguing. None-the-less he was gorgeous, with medium chocolate brown hair, and dark forest green eyes. He stood in front of me with his prominent broad shoulders, and biceps tucked away in a tight dry-fit grey long sleeve, paired with a simple pair of black shorts.
"Um yea it-"
"Yo Ryan, they're here." The boy yells across the house. And the next thing I know I hear heavy footsteps and then the tall figure of Ryan appears. He looks different, much more muscular then I remember, but he was still 2 inches taller than me.
"What are you just standing there for, come here" he says. I walk into the house and hug my brother for the first time in 2 years. Unlike many siblings, Ryan and I were very close, he's very protective over me, but I love him to death. Sometimes I wonder if the reason we get along so well is because of the distance that was between us. Dad had told me he had been getting himself in some trouble, one of the many reasons for the move so soon in the year.
"Hayden meet my best bud Brayden." Ryan pronounced acknowledging Brayden's presence. He shoots me a sly smirk, and it was only then I realized how tall he was compared to me. It was quite refreshing, and very attractive.
"And Brayden this is my little sister Hayden."
Before anything else could be said a phone went off and Braydon immediately pulled it out of his pocket, his posture dropping and lips turning into a fine line."Sorry guys but I gotta go, but nice to meet you Hayden." He says already half way out the door.
"Grab some boxes and help unload" a voice yells from across the house.
"Dad?" I say shocked.
"Princess?" Dad questions excitedly. Once my fathers figure comes into view I immediately run over and jump into his arms. Its funny, I almost forgot what it felt like. Joy and excitement exploded throughout my whole entire body.
"Wow you grew again" he says, his smile fading slightly. "I missed you so much princess" he adds. As much as I loved this emotional meeting, I really didn't feel like breaking down into tears.
"Should we unload?" I say my voice beginning to tremble.
"Of course."
Around an hour later my stuff was up in my room and I began to unpack. The walls were white and the room was fairly large, bigger than mine back in Chicago.
"Here got one more box for you," Ryan says setting the box down next to me.
"So how did you meet Brayden" I ask curiously opening the largest box with a knife.
"Well we're both on varsity football together, if that's what you mean. But he lives in the neighborhood so I guess that also helps."
He pulls out one of my 3ft trophies with a grin, "aren't these kinds of boxes suppose to be for clothes," I let out a small laugh and reply,"yeah but you try fitting those in a regular box." He gives me a sly grin as he pulls out more, laying them onto the bed.
"Dang how many do you have?"
"Umm probably somewhere around 37-41, but metals are in the other box." I say hoping I do not come off as cocky.
"Wow I guess 2 years makes a difference, you almost beat my record, I have 52."
He pulls out another one, this time it was an MVP award from my last school, along with a newspaper article.
"Yep that's Hayden for you, star volleyball player" Ryan exclaims nudging me in the side.
"Hey don't say that I'm not."
"Hayden, you were in the local newspaper twice, and have traveled all over the country, and you're only a sophomore so yeah you are."
"Shutup" I say nudging him back. If there was one thing I hated, it was when people bragged about my successes.
We continued to unpack, until my father calls from downstairs.
"Pizza! Come get it while its hot!"
Immediately Ryan was out of sight, pushing me to the ground as he passed.
Somethings never do change.
