Hayley's P.O.V.
"Hayley what have you gotten yourself into?! A child isn't going to do anyone any good! You're still in a bad place in your life and having a baby girl is not helping!" Mom shouts at me as I lay in the hospital bed.
"I didn't know I was pregnant Mom!" I explain trying to stay quiet. "I need rest if you don't mind,"
"No, we are speaking!" She argues, as I turn away from her. "I don't want to be a surprise grandmother!"
"Well then get out and leave me alone, because Taylor and Jeremy are coming back soon, and they actually care about me!" I let out, not realizing what I've just said. Before I can think about it, my mom gets up from the chair next to my bed, and storms out of the room, not looking back at the daughter she's oh so ashamed of.
A few minutes later, Taylor and Jeremy walk in, each with a coffee in their hand, and smiles on their faces. They sit down, both next to each other and I look down, ashamed of the way I spoke to my own mother. "Are you okay?" Taylor asks me looking a bit concerned.
"My mom does not like this very much," I explain, my eyes glued to the bed sheets.
"I'm sure she'll come around," he responds sipping his coffee.
"I can't believe this is happening right now, I mean, my two best friends just had a child, and no one was expecting it. I think I'm still in denial...I mean, where was I when you guys got so cozy?" Jeremy asks looking completely emotionless. I giggle a bit at his comment and look up at him.
"It was the day Taylor got back from his month...away. I missed him," I explain to Jeremy, twiddling my fingers.
"Yeah, I mean, you really missed him," Jeremy replies with an awkward facial expression.
"Jeremy!" I say, wide eyes and an open mouth in shock. "If Kat was gone for a month and you didn't know if or when she was coming back, after she was home safe you would've been all over her, and you would have twins,"
"Hayley Nichole Williams how dare you. I would tickle you if you didn't just give birth a few hours ago," he tells me with a sarcastically serious face on. I smile a bit and look down again to the hospital bed sheets.
"Where is Lacey?" I ask the two, more so to Taylor.
"There's doing all kinds of tests that we can't be there for. You didn't know you were pregnant, anything could've happen," Taylor explains softly.
"Oh," I say. That's all I could say at the moment, and no one complains about it; no one says anything back. It's a new face that breaks our created silence.
"Where is she?" the tall blonde woman asks walking in the room, not hesitating to shake her hips around. Angela. "Where's the precious new born?"
"Get out," Taylor tells her standing up. I try not to show I'm completely terrified of her by making no movement whatsoever. It's shocking how unafraid she is of being caught, but the thing is, no one knows but us three and Kat. That is, about the second round of her torture at least.
Jeremy is standing to now, like my big brother against a bad boyfriend. "You have no business being here," he says to Angela. Jeremy looks so serious that he doesn't even look like Jeremy anymore.
"You have no right snapping at me Davis," Angela replies calmly with a straight face. "You're not strong enough to do anything about it,"
"I have every right snapping at you. I have every right to have you arrested if I wanted, so I suggest you walk yourself out if this room before I throw you out," Jeremy responds in a calm voice. I've never heard Jeremy say something like that in all of the year's we've been friends.
"Don't you dare speak to me that way! I can have you killed if I wanted, and right now, your increasing the chance," Angela tells him. Taylor and I don't dare move, as the consequences would be too horrid to even imagine. "Now, I came here to see how Williams was doing after such a big day! How are you, Williams?" She asks sitting in the visitor chair.
"Please just leave," I quietly get out, trying to not allow my voice to crack. "I didn't do anything to you, Chad is dead, just please,"
"Williams, you're the only person who I've wanted dead, and has yet to die. You need to sooner than later for everyone's benefit," she explains. I look down once again and let those words sink in. You need to die for everyone's benefit. I can't help but start to believe it, I mean, my mind is basically screaming it to me over and over again. "I'll see you soon," Angela says getting up and walking out of the room.
As soon as she does, Jeremy sits back down and buries his face in his hands, and a hurt looking Taylor sits on the end of my bed, and wraps his arms around me. "Please don't listen to her, Hayles," he asks of me. I can't help but notice that his voice cracks when he says my name, only pressuring my eyes to let the tears out. "Please never listen to her,"
"I'm sorry," I tell Taylor. That's how I tell him I can't help but listen, and that's when he lets his own silent tears fall, his chin resting on my head.
"You're death would start a World War III, Hayley. I'm sure if I asked Jeremy to, he would have a whole lecture ready in less than ten minutes," Taylor tells me bringing his lips to my bright orange hair. I break the hug and look to Taylor, tear stained cheeks...not that that is new. With confused eyes, he stares into my eyes, and so I set my hands on either side of his face, and press my lips to his.
Taylor wraps his arms around my waist carefully as we kiss, Jeremy still in his chair. Once I run out of air, I pull away and lay back down with Taylor still next to me. I take advantage and use all of my strength to pull him closer to me, using his lap as a pillow, and his presence as a way of finally drifting to sleep in comfort.
I don't want to end the book but it's coming so fast!
