For the first time in three years, the Marauders didn't come to see him. Remus was worried, but mostly sad. Did they finally realise that he was a monster? Did they abandon him? Before any bad thought could enter his mind, Sirius came in smiling.

Remus' face lightened as he sat up on his bed. 'Hi, Sirius.'

'Moony!' answered Sirius, his smile brightening. 'How are you? Hurt? Any new scars?'

Remus sighed, but laughed. It was good to have a friend next to him; even though he wanted Sirius to be a little bit more.

'I'm fine. But where are Peter and James?'

'Peter is in Common Room, doing his Potions homework,' he said, sitting on he chair next to the bed. 'And James is after Lily, I suppose. Or he's doing homework too.'

'Lily, definitely,' answered Remus.

'Definitely,' agreed Sirius.

He put his bag on the bed and crossed his arms at his chest. Remus couldn't miss the picture; for the first time, Sirius actually looked like a student. His uniform was clean, the shirt was only visible around the neck. But yes, his hair was still long and a little messy, the way Remus loved it.

'You're staring,' noted Sirius.

'No, I'm not. And now, will you tell me why aren't James and Peter here too?'

'I've told you, they have homework to do. And a girl to follow, in James' case.'

Remus looked at Sirius in a way that could say "Really, you think you fooled me with that?"

'Fine!' said Sirius, almost jumping off the chair. His cheeks turned bright red and he nervously passed his hand through his hair.

'Sirius, are you okay?'

He'd never seen the great Sirius Black blushing or being so... unnatural. He was always calm, in a way that made Remus think that he got everything under control. But he never got anything under control.

'Yes, yes, I'm fine,' he answered, arranging his tie. Then, he looked at Remus. 'I've got something to tell you, that's why I asked James and Peter not to come to see you.'

Remus felt his throat dry. 'Well, spit it out.'

Sirius took a deep breath and sat up. He lowered his gaze, his cheeks reddening even more, then looked at Remus. He could actually see the shame engraved on his face. Something was wrong and you didn't have to be a genius to notice.

'Sirius?'

'I like you, alright?!'

Sirius was so loud, Remus tought Madam Pomfrey might hear them.

But that was his last problem. First: What?! Sirius liked him? Sirius liked boys? Like, the way James liked Lily? That was beyond incredible and Remus tought it was all a dream. A beautiful one, though.

'Am I dreaming?' he mumbled to himself.

Sirius didn't answer, but turned around and took a step towards the door. Remus was up in his bed the next second, an arrow of pain appearing in his shoulder, where he had the most recent scar.

'Ouch,' he said, but that was enough for his friend.

Sirius' bag landed on the floor, next to the bed. His face was now a few centimeters away from Remus'. And they could feel the other's cheeks burning.
