"Dan, I have so much to think about right now and so do you. You and Phil both need to be focusing on one of the most draining and fulfilling next couple of months of your lives." I told him."Why are you always right?" He groaned.
"You know I'm not." I said "but in this case I am. I want you and Phil to do your show tonight and be kind to each other, be the best friends you know you are. Just get focused."
"I agree. Do you think it would be alright to ask for a hug?" He gave me puppy dog eyes that were hard to say no to.
"Of course." I replied and we wrapped each other in a long, warm hug.
"Let's just all be nice." He said and I agreed.
It had worked, they were nice and I could see them getting so excited and nervous and just a whole range of emotions as they got ready for the first show in America tonight.
"Do I look okay?" Dan asked as I stood back in their dressing room with them "like is my hair-"
"What about me?" Phil interrupted.
"You both look fine. You literally wear the same outfit every show." I rolled my eyes.
"Okay on the way out we'll need towels and water and a change of clothes read-" Phil said.
"I know, I know." I told them. "I'll either do it or find someone who will." I assured them.
"Thank you." Dan said before there was a knock at the door.
"Come in." Dan called.
"Guys, we've gotta go." A staff member said.
They were ushered out along with me all hooked up to their mics and things and they seemed so jittery, I could tell the adrenaline was already pumping through them.
We neared the dark back of the stage and watched the beginning of their intro play on a screen and heard the audience screaming.
"I'm so nervous." Dan said but Phil looked like an impatient child about to open Christmas presents.
"Look at me." I told Dan and he did as I asked. "You've done it all before, you're going to do fine."
I remembered just months ago when I had went to their show in London and he had been texting me, and apparently he had too."I hope you know that you're the best." He told me exactly what he had sent me that day.
"I know." I said back and kissed his cheek making him just look at me and smile.
"Come on, come on!" Phil said and practically dragging him away into the back of the microwave.
I looked at the screen and watched them pop out looking happy and excited and saying hello to everyone.
I just wanted them to stay the way they were now, happy.I watched for a moment longer and just cherished it and they way they had so many people that loved them and how amazing they looked.
I told a staff member what to have ready for them,
And then I went back to the dressing room and called for a taxi.I went back to the house and got my things and headed to the airport to catch the flight I had booked back to London just this morning.
I knew I'd try to fix everything the best I could before I caused either of them anymore trouble or worse, their friendship. Their friendship meant more to all of those people out there screaming for them than any stupid little fights or relationship problems or who was in love with who and who didn't. Their friendship was their jobs, their friendship had survived the test of time and changes in flats, and arguments over who ate the last cereal, and living together and I refused to be the one that broke that.
I got on the plane and turned my phone off, I left it off until I reached London airport where all the texts and missed calls came flooding in from them.
And then I called Dan first.
"Oh my god, where are you?!" He sounded half asleep but he answered on the second ring.
"I went home, I'm in London now. It's not anything either of you did, it's me. I wanted to call you first to tell you that thing about my door, it's still open when you get home. We can talk about things then. As for now I can't be stressing you out while you put yourselves through this tour."
"I understand." He said tiredly. "Do you want me to wake Phil? He's been worried sick about you and I think he would appreciate it." He asked.
"If you think it would ease his worries." I replied.
I heard him get out of bed and the closing and opening of doors followed by "Phil, wake up, it's her."
"Hello?" Phil's sleepy voice asked.
"Hey Phil, sorry to wake you." I said.
"Where are you?" Phil asked.
"She went home." I heard Dan whisper to him.
"Oh." Phil said sadly. "I'm sorry."
"Don't be, it was nothing either of you did. I just want you to get along on tour and I wanted you to be able to enjoy it without the drama and fighting. I wanted to tell you I love you both very much and I don't want anymore fighting about anything. Got it?" I asked and they both agreed.
I got off the phone with them and let them both get back to sleep.I'd miss them for the time being, but I have no doubt I made the right choice this time.
A/N: yeah, so that's it guys. I mean I could always do more or a second part or whatever but I felt like that was a good way to end this with everyone happy. I know there's still things left hanging in the air, but I could do a second one if you wanted.
