I gave it my best guess to only receive a flat "No." from him

"Then where?" I asked a little fed up with this.

"You'll see. Now give me your phone." He stuck out his large hand.

"You're not going to tell me?!"

"No because that wasn't part of the deal and you didn't guess right anyway." He grinned "now phone."

I handed over my phone in defeat and rolled me eyes.

He quickly leaned into me and took a smiling selfie with ugly ass flash on.

"You can't post that!" I objected.

"It doesn't have your face in it, relax. It's just my ugly face and part of your hair." He then showed me his selfie with him grinning leaned on my shoulder with my hair and only a small section of the side of my face visible.

"Fine." I huffed. "What are you even hoping to accomplish by that? Like why did you feel the need to do that so badly."

"Everyone is already speculating that we were together because of your video I've obviously been drawn into and the connection it has with my painting. I'm just giving the people what they want." He said as he typed something out.
"Here you go." He said and handed me back my phone. "Don't delete it."

I looked at the caption above the photo which said "who's cuter?" The obvious answer was Dan because of his big grin and also because my face wasn't even in it. I was a little worried about this shit storm this might stir back up or potentially make worse, but Dan really didn't seem to care anymore.

"No time to delete anyway, we're here." He said and paid the driver.

I looked out a window to see the entrance of a really nice restaurant that I have never been to.
I knew he would do exactly what I told him not to do and make this all romantic and stuff.
But he said we were meeting up with people though? Maybe it wasn't as romantic or as serious as I thought? Maybe he was just bringing me along on some sort of business dinner or something or something with friends?

He held the car door open for me and helped me out.

"Listen," he said as we approached the entrance. "Just be yourself, try not to freak out and if you do I'm right here with you. Hopefully this will go the best it can for what it is." He said only confusing me more as he held the entry way door open and ushered me through with his hand on the small of my back.

The restaurant was darkened and very quiet except some slight chatter which was strange because there were so many people here.

"Do you have a reservation?" A smiling lady greeted us before asking.

"Uh, yeah, Howell. The other part of our party should be here already." He replied.

The lady looked down at a sheet of paper in her little greeting booth area and asked us to follow her.

"I just want you to know I mean well in doing this." Dan leaned in and whispered to me as we followed her to a table in the back.
At the table there sat an older couple and I instantly knew who they were without ever seeing them before.

The man looked to be built tall looking and thin exactly like Dan with the same nose and kind of curly hair but shorter.
The woman had Dan's exact eye shape, hair colour and face.
They were smiling at him until they looked at me and then their smiles fell a little.

Dan pulled out a chair for me and I had a seat.

"Is this (y/n)?" His mother asked Dan before he even had a chance to talk. She looking to be forcing a smile now and his dad wouldn't even look at either of us.

"It is." He confirmed surprising me that they had known anything about me "(y/n) this is my mum Rose, and my dad Robert."

"Nice to meet you." I gave them the most genuine smile I could considering they looked like they proper wanted me to fuck off.

"Nice to meet you too." His dad finally spoke to me and gave a two second smile before going back to reading the menu.

"Yes, we've heard quite a bit about you." His mum said.

"I mean over the span of about nine and a half months now they've heard about you." Dan said letting me know that they've known about me the entire time that we were together, maybe even before.

"Dan, I didn't know we'd me meeting (y/n) tonight. I thought this was just to catch up after tour." His mum now said and I could hear the underlying uncomfortableness in her voice.

"Well you haven't met her yet and I just thought it would be a good time since you came here for this. I didn't want to drag her all the way home just to meet you, she has work and things to do just as I do."

"Of course." His mum answered.

I decided to take Dan's dads approach on all this and look down at my menu and wish I wasn't here, the topic of conversation and or the middle of it all.

Why the heck did he take me to meet his parents? I thought I clarified to him that we weren't together.

"(Y/n) you make videos too, right? What kind do you typically make?" She asked me.

"Mum, you know what kind she makes, I've told you before." Dan said.

"Animation." I answered anyway because who knows maybe she was looking for more clarification into what I do. "I animate funny stories and things about my life and I narrate them I guess."

"Oh, so you're like Dan then." She said.
I just blinked at her comparison.

"Nooo." Dan replied. "She's far more talented than me, wittier, funnier and-"

"Younger..." His mother interrupted to finish his list.

"Not really though. Is everyone ready to order or?" Dan tried to change the subject.

"You told us she was eighteen, Dan." His father put down his menu and spoke up.

I now realised this was why he didn't wanting me meeting his parents. They had apparently already talked about all this before and his parents had strongly disapproved.

"Almost nineteen." Dan argued. "It's really not a big deal."

"I'm ready to order." I announced as a last attempt to let this go.

"I think it is." His mother said in shock with a taken aback laugh. "You're nearly nine years older."

"That's not quite right,  but what the hell, love doesn't matter, math doesn't matter, you offending her while she's sitting right here doesn't matter. There are just no rules anymore and nothing matters." Dan rolled his eyes.

"She's a child, Dan." His mum pressed.
That one really hurt.

I thought about just getting up and taking off away from this mess and maybe Dan would follow.

Should you leave or hang in there?
