Kaabs POV
Today is the day. I am so nervous. I don't even know if she feels the same about me. What if she doesn't.
"Kaab! I'm ready!" Haadiya yelled. She ran down the stairs and to the front door.
"Calm down Haadiya. Last time I checked I was the one asking for someones hand in marriage." I joked.
"Yeah yeah. Hurry up now bhai. Im so excited. Ayesha could be my possible sister-in-law." She said whilst getting into the car.
A few minutes later we arrived. We walked to the front door and knocked. After a while the door opened. Ayeshas mum opened the door and welcomed us in. We sat in the living and started some small talk. While her mum and Haadiya were talking and I was checking something on my phone someone cleared their throat. I looked up to see both her brothers. We said salaam to each other and after that they started asking me questions about my job and studies etc.
"So, where do u work?"
"I work for the TTS company. We basically look at different ways to help the community and the nature." I replied.
"Oh. The TTS company. I heard that's a pretty big company."
Suddenly the door opened and in came my possible wife. Ayesha.
Ayeshas POV
After praying fajr I started to wake Gabby. After we all had breakfast my mom told the girls (Ebrah Appi, Gabby and Aabira) to start getting me ready. They literally raided my closet for an outfit. After they finally found something all my clothes were on the ground.
They settled on a peach salwar kameez suit. They took out a few golden rings and peach coloured earrings. They also made me wear a simple bracelet. They braided my hair and did light make up. Or so I thought. Lets just say It was more than I expected.
(So how do you guys like my new way of showing my outfits. Comment what you think).
A few minutes later someone knocked on my room door and in came my mom. All the girls stood up and left.
"Awwww. My little girl is getting married." She said a few tears escaping her eyes. Yup this is my sentimental mom.
"Mom I'm not getting married yet." I replied wiping her tears. When the sound of the door bell was heard Ammi put the dupatta on her head and went to answer it. "I'm so excited for you my lil girl." She said whilst walking out of my room and suddenely i felt scared. After waiting for what seemed like 10 mins Gabby and Aabira called me down and handed me a tray of tea and biscuits. Typical right?
When I walked into the living room everyone went silent. Oh mi god. I hated attention. I set the tray down and picked up a cup and handed it to each person in the room. Then I sat next to Haadiya. After I was asked a few questions ammi spoke.
"Beta. Why don't you go show Kaab your room."
"Uhh. Yea.. ok." I hesitantly replied. And i could see bhais jaw get tensed, I stifled my laughter and kept on walking.
I led him up the stairs and into my room. Now if theres something I learnt in my 23 yesrs of being alive that was to talk about the awkwardness to remove it. And that's what I did.
"Ok. We both know that we are awkward. So let's just talk like friends. Maybe that way it will be less awkward." I suggested. He chuckled while saying,
"Yea sure. Do you have any questions for me by the way?" He asked.
"Just one. Will you let me work after we get married?"
"Ofcourse." He said with his million dollar smile.
A while later we were called back down.
"So. What do you guys say. From me it's a yes."said mom. Bhai also agreed. Okay if bhai agreed then there must be something about Kaab that I didn't realise before.
"It's a yes from me." Replied Kaab.
"Me too..." I replied a while after.
"Ok so I guess we will just decide the Nikkah dates now and then we'll go on from there." After discussing and taking everything into consideration they decided the nikkah would be in 2 weeks. I felt terribly sad because Haadiya and Kaab had very little family. Infact I don't think they have family at all. This was the only part of my marriage I was felling down about. I wouldn't even have a MIL or a FIL. But I guess it's better to have none rather than have an abusive one.
After everyone left I started to make my way to my room. I lay down on my bed and started to think.
At this time in two weeks I will be a married woman. I won't be that carefree Ayesha. I will have so much duties. I will have a husband. Husband. Husband. Husband. I kept on repeating that word. Husband. "Ayesha!" Mom called me down fot lunch. Well this is going t be a very awkward lunch.
And so it was. Mom wouldn't stop talking about how I would have so much duties. Daeem bhai and Daamin started they're own overprotective speech (even though I'm pretty sure Daamin was doing it just to annoy me) and for Ebrah appi and Aabira, they would not stop teasing me. I guess this was how it was going to be for the next few months. I have no idea ĺ'm going to survive.
