Chapter 26

I huffed and ignored it but I knew that she wouldn't let this be the end of this. She would bring it up again. Emily finished eating and I paid the bill. When we got outside I dropped her off at her dad's house and started driving I wasn't going home but I didn't know where to go so I went to my thinking place. I found a bridge when I was about twelve. I got out of my car went and hopped up onto the ledge and got really close almost falling but not. I looked down at the water and just thought about what it would be like to just jump. After a few hours I moved away from the ledge I wouldn't do it I couldn't I was too weak. I drove home and went into my room and took a few sleeping pills to sleep seeing as how its the weekend. I laid on my bed the last thing I remember saying was, " Maybe one day." And just like that, I was out.

      I woke up around noon to a blinking phone. I dreaded getting up seeing as how there was a 95% chance it was Emily. I rolled over to check it realizing that I was correct. I answered the phone to her heavily breathing.
"What do you want?"

"Are you walking?"

"No, why?"

"Goshdarnit. I wanted to be the reason you smiled and walked into a pole."

"Wow."

" wow what?"

" You."

" Me what?" 

" You're just being you."

" Oh ok that's cool, are you coming?"

" Coming where?"

" To practice. it starts in like fifteen minutes."

"Practice for what?"

" Stupid little white girl, you forgot already? We have a competition today for marching band."

" WAIT FOR WHAT? ARE YOU SERIOUS?"

" Uh, Duh."

" I'll be there soon."

              With that, I was out of bed dressed and out the door. I ran jumped into my car and sped away listening to the worst song that could possibly be playing at the time.  I just sped down the street and went on my way toward the school.

As I pulled  up to the school I practically flew into the building with not a minute to spare. I walked in and sat next to Emily and just looked at her. I still felt really sick for taking so many pills to sleep but band in my mind was more important. 

"you look like crap."Emily said sweetly.

"Thanks like I didn't know."

" What happened last night?"

"Nothing."

"Don't lie to me."

"Emily stop."

          As if one cue Mr.B walked out. The room fell silent as he stepped on the podium looking in the direction of the pit. He took attendance and sent everyone on there way. He said nothing to me or anyone in the pit. We went through the whole morning practice like it was nothing. Long practice periods and short breaks. After last night i really wasn't  feeling well but was gonna pull through it. We came back from a five minute water break, Mr.B stopped me just as i was about to put my drum back on.

"How are you feeling?"

"I'm feeling great, why do you ask?" Knowing Emily heard me I wouldn't look in her direction.

"We had a band member come to us saying that you had a rough night last night."

" Just shoulder pain, but i'm fine really."

"If you say so, but if you need to take a break just come off to the side."

"I'll be fine Mr.B but if I have to I will."

         As Mr.B walked away I looked over toward Emily who was staring at me. I already know what she was thinking. I looked at her and mouthed "I'll be fine." she looked at me with the your lying face but didn't say anything else. I walked out to the field and continued practice like any other day. Obvious pain but me being the stubborn person I am I didn't sit down I just went through practice like I usually would. Practice lasted about two more hours with one water break. I walked up to the school with Space Jesus and as expected she scolded me on the way up.

"So what was wrong?"

"What do you mean?"

"Last night, what was wrong? You never miss practice and today you were almost late."

"I just slept in late that's all."

"You, Sleep in late." She stopped to laugh. " What did you take?"

"I didn't take anything."

"Liar."

"I'm not lying."

"Bull poo poo."

" It wasn't anything severe. I swear."

"Well if i find out that it was something worse than what you're saying"

    She stopped mid-sentence which confused me but I soon realized why. I turned  around only to see Andy walking right behind us. We kept walking and we stopped at the one garbage can to throw stuff away. Andy caught up with us as we stopped.

"You guys ready for today?"

"Totally." Emily exclaimed.

"Yeah should be fun." I stated.

"Alexis are you ok, you seemed a little distracted during practice."

"Yeah i'm fine. Just a little tired that's all."

"LIAR!" Emily shouted.

"Emily shut up."

"Then tell the truth."

    I turned to look at Andy knowing if i didn't tell him Emily would literally try killing me.

"It was a rough night but i'll be fine."

"You know if i'm here if you need me."

"I know Andy, if I need to I will."

   As I finished talking to Andy he walked up and started talking to Mr.B. Emily and I kept walking peacefully until Emily hit my arm.

"Liar."

"What do you mean?"

"You lied to Andy." 

"How did I lie to him?"

"You're not fine. You won't be fine and knowing you if somethings wrong you're not gonna talk to him you're gonna hold it in like the stubborn person you are."

"I will talk to him if I need to. But ill be fine."

"That's what you said before."

"Yeah that was the past."

"And your past has tried to relive itself."

"Emily stop I wont let it happen."

"That's what you said before."

"Well I promise this time."

"Yeah sure you do ." Emily said with pure sarcasm.

       We walked into the band room as silence fell me and Emily looked at each other weirdly but continued to walk out the doors for lunch.

Sorry for another gross chapter XD but its something im thinking about writing four more chapters and then ending it then going back through and editing it. Ill figure it out. and sorry i havent been updating much. i update on my phone 98% of the time so its really annoying to do. Plus ive been putting in things for college sooooo. But its also still christmas break here so ig expect another chapter some time soon because without school homework and band i have literally no like XD so thank you for reading this far and not giving up on the book just yet.
