Laura's POV

I got up off of his bed. It's still 3 am. Derrick sat up and looked at me.
"What?" I asked, looking back at him. It kind of freaked me out the way he was staring at me.
"N - Nothing. You just look like someone I met a few weeks ago. She's was so sweet, caring and beautiful!" He explained to me. I processed his words in my mind, replaying them over and over again.
"You think I'm beautiful?" I said nudging him playfully. "Huh? Huh? Huh?" I repeated. He playfully shoved me lightly making me step back.
"Well your my sister, I'd have to say you are but yes. You truly are, Laurie." He said in a sweet tone. He's my brother and he's the nicest brother in the entire world! Especially since he saved me from being continuously laughed at in the mall the other day. I smiled and jumped on him.
"What's her name?" I asked him, laughing and getting off of him. He laughed as well.
"Her name is Kaitlyn." He said with the sound of love in his voice. Obviously, I've never been in love before so I really wouldn't know but I'd imagine it'd be like that. If I ever catch a guy talking to me or about me with that tone in his voice, I'm going to be one super happy girl. But that will never happen.

I find myself blanked out with Derrick brushing his hand in front of my face.
"Laurie? Laurie? Laura!!" He whisper yelled repeatedly. I shook my head and looked at him confused.
"Yeah?" I asked. He sighed and leaned back on his bed.
"Who's your crush? I'll get him to go out with you if you'd like." He said. My eyes widened. Crush? I don't have a crush!
"Nobody. You know perfectly well why I don't have a crush on anybody. Never forget that Derrick!" I snapped, I stormed out of the room and slammed the door behind me. I ran downstairs into the kitchen and got a glass of water. Just then, my mum walked in slowly with her bath robe on. I turned around to look at her through the low-light filled kitchen.
"What's wrong, bubby?" She asked in a sleepy voice. I shook my head and swallowed my water.
"Nothing. Derrick just struck a nerve." I said plainly, hoping she'd by it.
"Okay well, me and your father are going to get ready and then we're going to leave to pick up your sister from the airport. Okay?" She stated. I nodded and she hugged me, I hugged back and then she walked out. I waddled to the lounge room and laid down on the couch. Moments later, I felt a light tap on my shoulder. I rolled over and looked up to see Derrick standing there.
"I'm sorry, Laura. I didn't mean to make you upset and snap like that. I just forgot about it." He said in the sorriest voice he could make. I nodded and patted the seat next to me after I sat up. He sat down and side hugged me.
"It's okay. I'm just sensitive about that." I replied. He nodded and kissed my forehead.
"What's the time?" He asked. I unlocked my phone and my eyes widened.
"It's already 4am in the morning?! It's been an hour?!" I whisper yelled.
"Shh, calm down psycho." He joked. I looked at him and laughed as he did with me.
"Well, I'm gonna go jump in the shower." I say, getting up and turning to face him, about to talk again. "Pull out a Monster for me will you?"
He nodded and stood up. "I'll be in the kitchen." He said, then walked into the kitchen. I ran upstairs and jumped in the shower.

I stepped out of the shower and checked my phone. 5am! I seriously took an hour long shower?! Geez! I ran to my room and chucked on a blue under singlet, a black leather dress over top, black stocking, biker boots and some black patterned gloves. I quickly curled my hair to make it more curlier than it already was and then I put a blue strand of fake hair in my hair. As soon as I was done with my light makeup, I ran downstairs and into the kitchen. I opened the fridge to find a monster sitting on the shelf, I picked it out smiling and opened it. I drank it quickly and ran into the lounge room to find Derrick fast asleep. Not good, he'll never get up! I grabbed a cold glass of water and poured it over his head, he jolted up and looked at me. I started laughing and he smiled at my happiness. He stood up.
"Ha. Ha. Very funny." He said sarcastically. I look at his soaking wet face and giggled. "I'm gonna go take a shower now, meany." He said walking upstairs. I sat at the kitchen table looking at the roof with the light off. The moonlight going down made the room a little darker than it had been before. Mum walked in and hugged me.
"We're gonna go now. Don't do anything stupid. Do NOT let anybody bully you today! I mean that! Do you think Sophia will even tolerate you being bullied? Nope. Stay safe sweetie." She said finally and walked out after I said bye. Within the next hour, Derrick came down. What's with us and taking hour long showers? I checked my phone and it was now 6:30am. Time to get to school. I like to get there early so I can get into the music room and play the piano and sing without anybody saying 'Shut up' or 'Your suck' or 'Go die already'. My school life is sad. It sucks. I wonder if Lexis will actually be my friend anymore... :(
"Ready to go, Laura?" He asked me. Our dog, Delly, ran up to me for the first time in weeks. She's been sick lately so we haven't seen her. She was always in the back yard, in her little dog house. I kneeled down and patted her head. Than I looked up, nodded and grabbed my black and blue leather Mark Jones backpack and ran out to Derrick's old truck. He drove me to school and wished me good luck. He worries about me too much.

I jump out of the car and watch Derrick drive off. I pull out my keys to the school that I got off the principal and I pulled out my phone as well. I ran to the front doors of the school and unlocked them, walked in and ran straight to the music room with the grand piano in it. I played a bunch of different notes and started singing a song. I stopped playing and singing as soon as I heard the opening of the schools front doors. It scared me, so I grabbed my bag and ran to the music door and hid on the side, trying to see who was there.
"Where did she go?" She whispered. It's all good, it was just Lexis. I walked out of the music room and waved at her.
"Hey Lexis!" I yelled from across the hall. She jumped and ran down a different hallway in her pink high heels. She won't get far, I ran after her and caught up. I stopped her before she could run away again.
"Where are you going? Aren't we friends?" I asked, slightly annoyed. She shook her head as if she was scared.
"You don't get it. Get out of here before she sees you, Laura." She explained. But she didn't explain enough for me to understand.
"What are you talking about?" I asked confused as hell. She brushed past me and continued running towards the cafeteria. I sighed and walked back to the music room, to find somebody playing the piano. I walked in and stared at the boy, he had blonde hair and he was wearing a white collar shirt. I walked closer and then he stopped playing.
"Th - That was beautiful." I complimented him. He turned around in the chair and looked at me. I smiled as he did as well.
"Thanks! I'm Josh." He said holding out his hand to me. I took it and we shook hands. "Do you play?" He asked.
I nodded and sat down next to him, he turned around to face the piano again.I started to play the noting pattern that I was playing before. I started singing the song and half way through, Josh joined in the singing and he started playing the higher key notes to the song. I smiled at him when the song ended. He started to lean in. Crap! What do I do?! I played another note and started playing a different slow song softly. He moved back awkwardly. Did I do the right thing?

3:09pm. By the end of the day, I had hung out with Josh the entire time through school. And the bell will ring any second now. And I was right, it rang. 3:10pm. I quickly chucked everything in my bag without caring, while everyone else carefully placed their books and things in their bags. I was done within seconds and I ran out of the school closely followed by Josh. Derrick was already outside waiting for me, so I jumped into the car and looked at Josh.
"I'll see you soon, okay Josh? Bye!" I said and then Derrick drove off. When we arrived home, we both started pulling out balloons and banners and other stuff for Sophia's welcome home party.

By the time that it was 6pm, we were finished decorating the whole house, the guests will be arriving shortly and Sophia will get here in half an hour or so. This is so exciting! Pink streamers were everywhere, colourful banners that said 'Welcome Home Sophia' on them, all different coloured balloons, party food, cake and a lot of games for Sophia and her friends to play with. Ten minutes later, every one of Sophia's friends were here and a few parents and about 70% of our invited family members were also here. Our house was huge so it wasn't crowded at all. Another ten minutes later, everyone had arrived except for Sophia, mum and dad.
"Everyone! They'll be here any minute, hide!!" Derrick demanded excitedly. Everybody hid really well and I turned the lights off, standing in front of the curtain so they couldn't see me when they arrived. Everyone was super quiet and didn't make a sound. We all heard the car pull up, the sound of the car doors closing and the running towards the house, from Sophia. Mum and dad got to the door and unlocked it. They didn't know about this surprise welcome home party, so they'd be surprised too. When they walked in, I turned on the lights and immediately everyone jumped out at once and yelled "SURPRISE!!"
They jumped, especially dad. I should've videoed it. It was so funny. Derrick walked up to Sophia and gave her a big hug, I joined but got pushed out of it halfway through by Sophia. See what I mean? Ugh! I don't even know why I try to get her to like me! I walk upstairs pretending to be calm but I really wasn't.

Vicious little girl.

I opened my laptop to find an email marked with a yellow background.

Holy god. Holy god! HOLY GOD!!!
