Chapter 21

Grifin.

He prowled toward us eyeing Bora like she was his prey.

"What's a slave like her doing here?' he snarled, directing the question at me but not letting his eyes stray from her.
"She's not a slave," I growled back, slowly moving her away from his view, behind me.
"That's what you told me this morning. Did you lie to me?"
"It wasn't a lie, just an excuse.Earlier was attacked by humans, so I had to make a quick explanation - she stunk of them"
"She still does" he replied, "did they get away with it"
"No, as soon as I found her, I killed them"

He took a step backward before stalking around me to see Bora again. I so badly wanted to stop him, but that would make me look suspicious.
"You're going to make a weak Luna. What werewolf can't kill a few humans"
"I injured myself" she replied softly. Crap! I should've told her werewolves have rapid healing. Now she was going to expose herself.
"Her old pack tortured her with wolfsbane - it's stopped her healing abilities" I tried to explain.
"Weakling" he growled, gripping her arm and pulling her towards him. "What kind of Luna are you?"

Hearing the commotion in the corner, people began gravitating towards us, Tae and Hoseok at the front.
"What's going on here?" Hoseok asked, taking a step towards Grifin who was holding Bora so tight marks were beginning to form. I hated seeing her in pain, but my wolf knew the consequences would be catastrophic if I stepped in now.
"You're Luna here, was harmed by wolfsbane" Grifin grumbled, pure hatred in his eyes. Before anyone could speak, Tae opened his big, square mouth.
"But wolfsbane doesn't affect her," he said.
"What werewolf isn't harmed by wolfsbane,"
"None, she's human".

That's when all hell broke loose.

Before I knew it, Bora was flung across the room, yelping in pain when her back made contact with a table in the center of the room. Her body was limp for a second before a rough growl from Grifin caused her to stand bolt upright, along with everyone in the room. He leapt towards her, jumping completely across the hall before landing by her feet.
"Human!" he yelled,"you're a human!" He wasted no time grabbing her neck and holding her like she'd just killed his last remaining family. Her face was beginning to go blue and she was trying her best to pull his hand off her neck when I lost it. 
"Get off her!" I screamed, rushing over to them and pulling him off her with the strength I had no idea I had. I was so angry I could feel the veins in my arms bulging like they were going to explode at any minute. I'd pushed him on the floor and was now on top of him, sinking my fists into his flesh with every passing second. The noise around me faded out; I was being deafened by my pure hatred for the man I was currently beating. How dare he talk to her like that? She was my angel and he treated her like a rouge - no scratch that, worse than a rouge. 

Most of his teeth were crumpled, lost or snapped and his entire body was shaking as blooded gushed out of fresh wounds when I was brought out of my trance. 
"Namjoon," said Bora, clearly terrified. "You're going to kill him!" 
"That's the point"
"No, baby, please don't do that," 
"He hurt you, he deserves to die"
"You'll hurt me even more if you do this" she cried, holding onto my shoulder which instantly calmed me down. I got off him instantly; I wasn't going to hurt her. I couldn't hurt her. 

I turned to face her trauma strawn eyes, crumpling like a dust statue when I saw the damage I'd caused. Tears were running down her flushed cheeks and she looked like she was going to burst in fear any minute. 
"Baby girl, I'm so sorry. I just got so angry. It's a wolf thing". She looked at me briefly before wriggling out of my grasp and slipping away through the sea of people: out of my reach.
