Buck Have I Loved, Bruce Have I Hated
Bruce grinned to himself as Lou yelled at her man.
Things hadn't gone according to Shamus's plan.
Lou stormed off and the hunt was on,
Bruce slouched and covered a yawn.
Suddenly someone pointed: "There he is, boss!"
Bruce was surrounded; Shamus looked mighty cross.
"I'm keeping my end of the bargain, Skirt.
Ya didn't do what ya said," Shamus smirked.
Bruce tried to resist as he was dragged out the door.
He knocked down one man, then a few more.
Then just when things were looking grim,
Buck and his horse came racing in.
"Where's Lou, Shamus?" Buck stood with legs splayed.
He pinned Shamus's arm to the wall with a blade.
Shamus pulled out the knife and said with a grin,
"Where's Lou? Why don't ya ask HIM?"
Buck turned to see Bruce held tight.
He shook his head at their unfortunate plight.
Shamus scratched Buck's arm and shirt,
All the while wearing a smirk.
"I know that Lou kissed ya," Shamus told Bruce.
"I knew that ya would break our truce."
When the story came out, Buck was in shock.
"Lou thought Bruce was ME and kissed him!" He thought.
"Sorry, Buck, looks like it was true.
My former wife DID have feelings for you.
If ya meet her again, you'd better beware.
She's rather mad at your brother over there."
Lou had been married to Shamus! Buck was hurt.
No wonder she hadn't wanted him to flirt.
One of Shamus's men hit Bruce over the head.
Bruce collapsed as if he were dead.
Buck backed away, but Shamus interfered.
"You'll have to go, Buck, so my name stays clear."
Buck threw a knife at Shamus's side,
He raced to his horse and began to ride.
Bruce came to with a wince and a groan.
Shamus was holding back a moan.
Bruce narrowed his eyes and thought real hard.
The deck was stacked against him, so he needed a good card.
"Shamus," he said weakly, "Dinnae kill me. I'll do whatever you say.
I'll work for you, I'll ride for you, just don't kill me today.
If you want Buck, I can help you get him.
In fact, Shamus, I would just love to hit him."
Would Shamus listen to Bruce's plea?
Would he let him live, maybe let him go free?
Bruce had to take a chance. Which brother was most hated?
He was in big trouble if Shamus retaliated.
