Wednesday Evening, Dinner Time
Dear DiaryI hate my life. I FREAKING HATE IT!!! Why does all the good things in life keeps leaving me when it was about to turn into the GREATEST MOMENTS of my life?? You want to know what happened? Well, here's what happened. When Connor came back, he did the most sweetest thing ever. He gave me a necklace he bought from a nearby souvenir shop.
"Umm.. Bea, I know it's not much, and I know it's probably fake, but I still hope you don't mind." He opened up a small little box, and inside the box was the cutest kangaroo pendant I've ever seen. "I just wish you'd keep it as a token of my heart. I mean, as a token for you to remember this uhh... Day?"
I giggled. Seeing Connor scratching the back of his neck, pushing his glasses so it would not fall off his face and basically just acting all nervous is enough to put a smile on anyone's face. And here I thought I was the only one letting out the nervous vibe. "Connor, I love it. It's really the cutest thing ever. Thank you."
"Oh gosh, that's a relief!" he beamed. "I was so afraid you'd think of me as a cheapskate! Would you.. Umm.. Would you like me to help you put it on?"
"Sure, why not?" I turned around and lifted up my hair. Connor took the necklace and place it around my neck. Once he's done, I looked down and touched the pendant. Never in a million years would I ever imagine a guy would buy me a present, let alone a guy like Connor. Anyways, we continued talking about anything that came into our minds and laughed at each other's attempt to make the other person laugh. All in all, we had a great time.
Little did I know, when we were talking, Connor moved a little closer to me, and I absent-mindedly moved closer to him too. Before my brain could interpret what was actually happening, Connor already had one of his hands on my waist, and the other playing with my hair. My heart was literally trying to free itself by banging against my rib cage. At this point, both of us stopped talking, and I absent-mindedly (again) stared at his beautiful green eyes to his oh-so-kissable lips. I swear diary, the whole world had stopped doing what they were doing and were looking at us, waiting for me to lose my first kiss. Or at least, that's what I was feeling. Anyways, both of us started leaning forward, only leaving a couple of centimeters between us, when suddenly...
"BEATRICE!" Somebody shouted. Both Connor and I immediately jumped apart from each other and pretended that all of THAT didn't just happen. I searched frantically for that bloody someone who had ruined my chance of getting rid of my first kiss perfectly, and guess who I saw...
Max. Freaking. Lee.
"Hey, what are the odds of bumping into you here?" he laughed, Chris coming slowly behind. I swear if Chris and Connor wasn't there, I was definitely going to kick Max's sorry ass right then and there.
"Yea... What are the odds." I glared at him, silently wishing I could murder him with the nearest weapon I could find. And so far, the options I got were either stabbing him with a used plastic fork or throwing bird seeds all over him and leaving him at the mercy of Melbourne's pigeons. Would this even be counted as murder?
"Hey, aren't you the guy from the airport?" Max suddenly became aware of Connor, who was still sitting beside me.
"Yeah, what's up mate? I haven't really introduced myself to you yet, I'm Connor." Connor said while doing some kind of weird international bro fist bump with Max.
"Well, nice to meet you too, bro! I'm Max."
"Mister wrong place at the wrong time." I muttered. Apparently, I wasn't subtle enough because Max snickered after hearing it.
"Well, I can finally understand why my friend here was blushing so hard after the airport incident. You're not bad looking, like me!" Max suddenly said, which made me really wonder if I would get arrested for murdering someone who is embarrassing me so badly.
"What the fudge, Max!" I shrieked while simultaneously hitting him on the arm. "Shut up! I wasn't blushing, it was... Umm.. It was... Hot! It was really, really hot in the airport."
"It's autumn, Beatrice..." Max said softly, but loud enough for everybody around to hear. I swear, if tomorrow's newspaper's headlines is 'Teenage Tourist Got Murdered In Melbourne Central', don't be too surprised, diary.
At this point, I was really running out of excuses. "How would I know? Maybe the airport decided to turn up the heater? I'm not the one controlling the whole airport, okay? Gosh, I'm leaving." I said in frustration while all the three guys laughed. I quickly walked away from them before I died of embarrassment, but I wasn't quick enough because Chris got hold of me before I could even walked pass him.
"Where do you think you're going?" he asked. "You're not from here, remember? You're going to get lost. C'mon Max, stop fooling around. Aunt Colleen called earlier, remember? She'll be serving dinner soon, so let's go. Beatrice, do you wanna follow us or do you wanna follow Connor?"
After what had just happened, I highly doubt I could ever face Connor again. "I'll follow you guys." I said, wishing that Chris would let go of my arm soon. Yes diary, I'm still sticking to my Avoid-Chris-At-All-Cost plan.
But as we were about to leave, Connor stopped us just to talk to me. Now I know I've asked this question a lot of times already, but isn't Connor the sweetest guy EVER?
"It'll be really quick, sorry mate." he said while pulling me aside. "Hey, I know you're only going to be in Melbourne for only a week. So why not you and I go out again on Saturday night, at least to make your last night in Melbourne a little more... Worth remembering?"
Was I dreaming? Because I think Connor just asked me out on a date. "Umm.. Sure."
"Great! So you'll give me a call then?" he asked.
"Sure.."
So here I am sitting on the dinner table with Tanya on my right and Zoe on my left, having the urge to tell you everything that had happened. Elise and Jayden are sitting towards the end of the table, whispering something into each other's ears and giggling. Like, lots and lots of giggling, especially from Elise. Max, on the other hand, is currently sitting at the direct opposite of me, trying to steal my food. I wonder why is he trying to steal my food, he still have a clutter on his plate.
Don't get me wrong, diary. Even when things isn't too utterly bad, I still hate him for what he did earlier, but you can't really stay mad at him for too long. He knew nobody, and I mean NOBODY, could get away from my high radar senses when it comes to food. Nobody since middle school has ever dared to steal my food away from me. And so far, Max has been doing nothing but failing to get my food.
Gosh diary, you should see his face! It's really hilarious! Wait, I think Bradley is looking at me weirdly. I better stop writing and start eating before he thinks I'm the socially awkward teenage cousin.
Wouldn't want that to happen, right?
