Alice Edgley was called from her chambers that night to dinner with 'the master' as the servant who had summoned her explained. Just her. She shouldn't be surprised that Vivi was not called. Hansard had never felt much for Vivi, but with Alice, at least there was some measure of attraction there. Enough to use as a distraction.

So, she dressed in the fine clothes provided for her in the wardrobe. They were rather ridiculous, to ask for her opinion, but everything in the Kray family castle screamed over-the-top, so why should her clothes be any different? She made her way down into the dining hall where two place settings were waiting side by side. Hansard was sitting looking incredibly smug at the seat at the head of the table awaiting her to begin eating the meal of a fine steak with Diane sauce with a side of what seemed to be mash potatoes and vegetables.

"Alice, take a seat." He grinned at her and her stomach churned but she obeyed him, taking her seat and waiting politely for him to begin eating before she picked up her spoon.

"Have you been getting your rest, my dear? I need you all charged up and ready for the battle." He began making what he thought of as first date small talk.

"I've been resting so much that I think my batteries will fry from overcharge before I can even be used." She responded sharply.

"Well, I do have a job for you. You will be in charge of battle plans. You've got a brilliant mind and what better use for it?" Hansard offered.

"What about Vivi?" she asked, watching his expression closely.

"Viviana is busy elsewhere recruiting with Nadir. Of course, you'll be working together on that very soon." He replied.

"Where should I start? Plans are already in motion. We are building our army and you are preparing the Unnamed's body. We have our greatest enemies in the dungeons below us and everything is running smoothly." Alice frowned.

"Not everything. We need strategies to counter our opponents. The Sanctuaries and the Roarhaven battlements are still standing and they will not go down without a fight. You've worked with them. You know their style." He smirked at her with a sick obsession in his eyes.

"Of course, sir." She answered.

"Sir? There's no need for formalities like that anymore, darling. You never see a wife calling her husband by his title, do you?" he barked out a laugh and stroked her hand tenderly.

Alice took in a deep breath to stop the shudder from coursing through her body. "Wife and husband?" she said with a shaky voice.

"Of course, we are not just any couple. You are my Queen of darkness. Soon we will rule over all the mortals and sorcerers by the Unnamed's side." His fingers trailed up her arm and goosebumps tingled there.

She remained silent and obedient.
