Donegan Bane and Gracious O'Callahan stood side by side on the hill, overlooking what they had managed to accomplish. The army of hundreds of thousands of magical creatures they had gathered were ready to go.
"Give thanks, men, to Gracious O'Callahan and the brave three hundred. TO VICTORY!" The short monster hunter cried out.
"Stop it, Gracious, you aren't the star of the '300' movie. They'll think you've gone mad." Donegan rolled his eyes and gestures to the questioning looks glanced their way by the army they'd assembled.
"Madness?" Gracious turned to him, a glint of glee in his eyes. Donegan knew he'd said the trigger word. "THIS IS SPARTA!"
Donegan did not get up from where he lay on the floor after his friend had kicked him down. He only looked up at the dark sky and sighed. "I should have known better than to say that."
"Send the message to the Grand Mage, Persian. We are ready." Gracious stood with his hand clenched on his hips as he gazed into the distance dramatically in what he thought was a regal pose.
"Naturally, Leonidas." Donegan snorted.

China glanced down at the pager that had come to life and she acted immediately, calling Fletcher Renn.
"Your fellow Monster Hunters are ready, take Valkyrie and teleport their army over," China ordered him over the phone, not bothering to greet him.
"We have a slight problem," Fletcher replied hesitantly.
"Valkyrie has done something stupidly heroic again, hasn't she?" China closed her eyes.
"It wouldn't be Valkyrie if she didn't," he responded. China heard voices arguing on the other end of the line and there was a noisy scuffle as Andena's voice came to the phone.
"I can step in, Grand Mage." The girl said.
"Very well, hurry. Fletcher knows where they are." China nodded and hung up promptly. Then turned to her left and said to the Wolverine, "Let's get Genji Sparrows in here. We're going to need another teleporter."

The wolverine nodded and flicked the cigar he was chewing on down onto the battlements they had been overlooking. He'd met the man earlier and he'd been nice. Not many people seemed nice to Logan. Genji also had an interesting colour scheme going on, with his purple hair, red jacket, camo trousers, blue trainers, and green eyes. Needless to say, he wasn't too hard to spot spinning and fighting below a few kilometres down the line. The 32-year-old whirled his scythe with expertise as he darted from target to target, moving with speed and agility. He seemed to be enjoying himself, his knee didn't give him much trouble anymore. Back when he was younger, back when his name was JJ Pearl, he'd shattered his knee on the rocks, jumping from them back in Haggard trying to impress Stephanie Edgley.
Of course, when Stephanie had run into him later on in life and discovered his flair for magic after his father had murdered both his mother and sister and attempted to murder him to no avail, she'd referred him to a few friends. Now he knew her as Valkyrie Cain, but not too much had changed between them. He still had a crush on her and they were still friends. He glanced up to see Dexter vex flying a dragon and shooting energy streams down into the sea of Faceless Ones. Dexter was one of his two mentors and now a good friend. Genji briefly wondered where his other close friend and mentor, Fletcher Renn, was. But of course, the Sanctuary's main teleporter was occupied.
"Hey, Genji!" He heard a rough voice from the wall above and looked up to see the Wolverine waving him over. Or was is Saracen? No Saracen was on that dragon and was shorter. And fatter.
Within a millisecond Genji was standing beside Logan with a grin, catching his breath.

"We don't have any time to waste, Fletch. Hurry up, let's go." She held out her hand to her boyfriend.
He took it and in the blink of an eye, they were gone, leaving Kenspeckle with Skulduggery to watch over and unconscious Valkyrie. Everyone knew it probably wasn't the best idea.
Kenspeckle watched Skulduggery's featureless face intently as the Skeleton monitored Valkyrie's condition with a close eye.
"Tell me, Detective, if this doesn't work and she stays dead, how will you feel?" The doctor asked.
"I don't know, it's never happened before." Skulduggery responded. "Would you like to make a quiz if it goes wrong? Or, if you'd like, I'd be open to a survey."
"You can joke all you want, but it has happened. You have seen your child killed in front of you before." He spat back.
Skulduggery didn't respond.
