"Alice, it's your turn for your special job." Hansard rasped into her ear and smoothed her hair down while kissing her cheek.
She looked back over her shoulder to where the line of prisoners with covered heads were being led to her. She nodded at Hansard, her gut twisting as she forced herself to move one foot in front of the other until she had reached the first of the chain and she took his hand and squeezed it tight, relishing in its familiarity. Alice closed her eyes and took in a deep, shaky breath. She felt the cold hand stiffen and turn limp as its owner recognized her.
"I know you know who I am, there's no use in pretending like we're strangers." She said with a gulp.
"We are strangers. The girl I thought I knew is not who you are." Ellion's soothing voice came out scratchy and hoarse and guilt shuddered through her.
"You never knew who I was. Not really. Remember, I was the mystery girl." She replied solemnly, pain racking through her at his cold words.
"Well you know who you are now, I suppose." He gave a half-hearted snort.
"Yes, I do." She nodded and cast her eyes to the ground.
"So, before you kill me, maybe you should clear it all up. Who are you?" his voice broke.
"My name is Azealia Raven." She stated as the army parted down the middle and they reached the front line and she found herself brushing past the dark-haired, dark-eyed woman again as they met eyes.
..............................................................................................................................
China, Aria, and Ophelia watched as the enemy army parted down the middle, and Vivi and Alice walked through as if they were the queens and this was their army rising to attack the opposing kingdom. The curly-haired girl clutched to the first masked prisoner's hand and a line of others just like him were chained together at the ankles (no doubt with magic binding cuffs) and lead them to the front line. Hansard moved down from his podium and joined his father who materialized from the crowd. The pair made their way to the front and Hansard pulled Alice in for a long kiss. The prisoners were arranged in an organized row presented to the Roarhaven gates. This wasn't preparation for battle or a trap. The elders realized very quickly that this was a threat promising spilled blood and failure for the Roarhaven mages. An execution.
